NFL Week 4: Vick-McNabb Division Showdown: Texans Comeback; Who's Gonna Be 4-0?
Week three surprised a LOT of folks last week. Never in my wildest dreams that I ever think that St Louis would beat Washington. And I just KNEW that San Francisco would pummel Kansas City. Pittsburgh showed Tampa Bay a few things.
But, that was last week.
Shake the dirty off of your cleats, and get ready for Week 4. Here we go!
New York Jets @ Buffalo: Imagine my surprise when the Jets handled the Dolphins last week. I mean, they are a great team, but they weren't supposed to be that great. And Buffalo, bless their little hearts, really hung in there against New England. That impressed the heck out of me. Buffalo is playing at home, however, I don't think home field advantage is gonna help much. The Jets are a better team. Jets 30 - Buffalo 10
Cincinnati @ Cleveland: The Bengals line has been kinda on the sloppy side so far, especially last game against the Panthers. If you look sloppy against the Panthers, then you are really sloppy. Cleveland looked sloppy also, but they were playing against Baltimore, who are a whole lot better than Carolina. Cleveland is playing like they wanna win, and they are due for one. Payment due this week. Cincinnati 10 - Cleveland 21
Baltimore @ Pittsburgh : Last week, I said that the Steelers were old. Seasoned, but old. And those old dogs showed Tampa Bay some new tricks. Steelers have one of the best, if not THE best defense in the NFL. The Ravens played downright sloppy against the Browns last week. Baltimore has some work cut out for them. It won't be enough. Pittsburgh 33 - Baltimore 20. The Steelers will be the only undefeated team left this week.
Denver @ Tennessee: I had such high hopes for the Titans. And then they lost to Pittsburgh. But hey, come on, it was the STEELERS, man. Ain't no shame in losing to them. Denver has got to find a way to stop Chris Johnson and I am not convinced the they will. Denver 21 - Tennessee 30
Detroit @ Green Bay: Detroit is one of those teams where you just can't look at the win/loss ratio, you have to look at the game/scores.In spite of Detroit's losses, those guys play pretty darn good football. This week they are playing at Green Bay's house, and no matter how well they play, Detroit won't be able to handle it. Detroit 27 - Green Bay 31
San Francisco @ Atlanta: San Francisco started panicking this week, after that humiliating and surprising loss to Kansas City. The offensive coach got canned, first thing Monday morning. I'm sure the new coach has some great plays in mind, but it's too early for him to make a difference. Atlanta is savoring the taste of victory against the reigning Superbowl Champions, and the Falcons are ready for their next course. I wouldn't call the game against San Francisco a meal. A snack, maybe? Take note: the 49ers play great against great teams, but they suck against crummy teams. Go figure. San Francisco 10 - Atlanta 33
Carolina @ New Orleans: The Panthers started their rookie Jimmy Clausen, last week, and the poor little thing was flabbergasted by the Bengals New Orleans SHOULD have won last weeks game against Atlanta. The Saints got disorganized for a minute, and that cost them in the long run. They should steamroll right over the Panthers. Carolina 7 - New Orleans 35
Seattle @ St Louis: Both teams gave football fans quite a surprise last week, with Seattle beating San Diego and St Louis whipping up on Washington. I can't call St Louis the "Lowly Rams" after winning that game. It's gonna be a close call between these two. Wait a second...St Louis' star RB Steve Jackson has a sprained groin, and it's not known if he will play Sunday. Even if he does play, his performance will not be up to far. And without him up to par, the Rams won't win against the Seahawks. Seattle 24 - Rams 13
Indianapolis @ Jacksonville: We should call this game "The Best vs The Worst" Peyton Manning and the crew are superlative, especially when Peyton gets in his zone. David Garrard is mediocre at best, and he doesn't play his best often. Maurice Jones-Drew is absolutely wonderful, but he is only one man. He can't do it alone, and he has little to no help. The Jaguars play at home, but this is one of those match ups where it won't matter. Indianapolis 35 - Jaguars 6
Houston @ Oakland: Do not let the Texans/Dallas game from last week fool you. Dallas NEEDED to win. Too many heads were on the chopping block, so they played like their lives depended on it. I know some of their careers did. Houston should have recovered from that mollywhop Dallas gave them last week, and they are ready to mollywhop someone else. Enter the Raiders. Poor things. I wouldn't want to be THEM this week. Houston 24 - Oakland 10
Washington @ Philadelphia: I'm still stunned by the Redskin loss to St Louis. (And I'm sure there are a few Redskins' fans are are, too.) Washington needs to recover, and quickly because they are playing in Michael Vick's house (Yeah, I said Micheal Vick's House. Kolb is probably looking for a reality show to star in) This is gonna be an interesting match up. McNabb was Vick's team mate and teacher. Vick was an excellent student. He'll show us all on Sunday. Washington 21 - Philadelphia 33
Arizona @ San Diego: I predict that this will be the most lackluster game this week. I will be in my backyard, watching concrete. Should be much more interesting than this game. Still... Arizona 10 - San Diego 13
Chicago @ New York: The Bears are 3-0 (they really SHOULD be 2-1, but I digress) The Bears have played "OK", not spectacular. The Giants have been up and down, but they have a much better offense than Chicago. And, the G-men are playing at home. Chicago 17 - Giants 35
New England @ Miami: THIS is gonna be the best game of the week. New England allowed the Bills to score 30 points. (The BILLS? Are you kidding me?) There is no way that a super team like New England should have allowed THAT many points against a hapless team like Buffalo. I keep telling you all, Tom Brady is not as good as he's hyped up to be. The reputation of his team is. Miami lost badly to the Jets. But, no matter what the score was last week, Miami is still a better team than the Jets. This is a hard one to call, but I am gonna have to say....New England 30 - Miami 38
