Strength In Numbers: Stables and Alliances that could work in the WWE
Personally, I think stables are responsible for some of the most exciting storylines and periods in wrestling. From the horsemen to the NWO, From D-X to Evolution. Stables can shake up a whole wrestling promotion and make for brilliant television. The stables I have put together for this piece are all composed of by modern day WWE wrestlers. Some of these stables are revamps of former or current stables that in my opinion have not been done to death or made the impact they could. each of these stables would be a welcome edition for the WWE.
Vince McMahon's Cabinet

As you can probably tell this stable has been assembled by none other than Vinny Mac. Why you ask, well one word: domination. This stable has been assembled to control the WWE. Triple H will be 2nd in command to Vinny Mac and will be the only member in the world title picture. Drew Mcintyre will be IC Champ. Dibiase with his french arm candy Maryse ( Woman’s Champion) and William Regal will hold the tag belts. Steph will be there to reignite the Helmsley-Mcmahon alliance from the early part of the decade. Mason Ryan and Ezekiel Jackson are henchman who destroy anyone who trys to attack any of the cabinet’s members outside of a wrestling match. This stable could rival with a Bret Hart stable that includes Cena, The Hart Dynasty, Danielson and others or could feud with singles such as Orton, Cena, Taker just to name a few. Triple H is dying for a heel turn and i think this would be the best way for him to assert himself as a dominate heel once again. This stable could also be a great way for DiBiase and McIntyre to get over.
The Straight Edge Society

CM Punk’s faction had great potential. I say the word ‘had’ for a reason. It looks like CM Punk’s disciples are not long for CM Punk’s stable and with Gallows and Mercury gone i think we will once again see a solo Punk. But this is not the best case scenario. The Straight Edge Society need to be totally and utterly revamped and renovated. Here are the members for the new and improved Straight Edge Society that i propose. The inspirational leader CM Punk will of-course be the leader. For this to work Punk NEEDS to dominate the main event on what ever show he’s on (most likely smackdown). Punk’s henchman and the muscle of the Society will be Shad Gaspard. The guy is big and powerful. he also has a bit of a lackey vibe if you get what I mean. Shad also has a cryminal (see what i did there) background which could play into the story of his reforming into a straight edge disciple well. CM Punk’s third follower will be Serena. She played her character very well and every stable is better with an annoying female. The 4th member needs to be someone big, someone unexpected someone like Matt Hardy. Think about it he used to be part of team extreme, his career has been unsuccessful since then,CM Punk and Jeff Hardy’s past could play a part, he hasn’t amounted to much under his current lifestyle and CM Punk can promise him gold. Throw him in a tag team with the next member and you have a great story of hardy turning straight edge. The last member did leave the WWE a while back, but hey he’s to good not put in. That man is Tommy Dreamer. What a story this would be, the original ECW roster member has given up everything he once stood for, for the sake of straight edge. Think of the heat he could get by insulting the former ECW and promoting Punk. This is what the SES should be, well in my opinion at least.
The Latino Connection

As you can probably tell this stable consists of or is at least led by Latino, South American or Other internationaly based superstars. The stable’s primary function would be to make the ‘WWE Universe’ respect Latin-America and to forget the American lifestyle/ wrestling style. This stable will start when Chavo and Primo are tag champs and have been in a feud with The Hart Dynasty for a number of months on Smackdown. During a match at Summerslam Rey Mysterio will run to the ring while The Hart Dynasty are getting beaten with chairs by Primo and Chavo. He will jump on the top rope only to dropkick Tyson Kidd. He will then cut a promo saying how he is sick of the disregard for Latino and South American culture and wrestling within the WWE. he will finish the promo promising to make an impact. The next week on smackdown Alberto Del Rio aligns himself along side Rey on the condition that he is the only one in any of the title pictures instead of Rey. This stable would be pretty midcard and it wouldn’t be challenging for world titles but it would be able to give Del Rio a great platform, Primo and Chavo some precious TV time and Rey a heel run. The Latino Connection could be a very entertaining stable with the foundations for an interesting break up with tensions growing between Del Rio and Rey Rey.
Blaze Of Glory/ The Two Man Power Trip 2010

Blaze Of Glory are a stable made up of some of the best Current Mic Workers in WWE today. Their leader is Chris Jericho and the rest of the stable consists of MVP, Alex Riley, Christian and The Miz. This is not really a stable but more of an alliance. The interesting thing about this stable is they work together and claim to be united but each one of them is desperately trying to catch the WWE Championship. Their motive is to try and take other wrestlers in the title hunt out and to make sure their stock is always rising. The dynamic of this stable gets interesting when at the Money In The Bank PPV The Miz wins the Briefcase and holds onto it until Wrestlemania. At The Royal Rumble Christian ( now a face) elimanates Alex Riley and MVP to win The competition and on the same night Jericho beats Cena with help from The Rock (different article for a different time). The group begins to disintegrate when The Miz announces he is cashing in his MITB contract for the Wrestlemania main-event claiming he is good enough to defeat Christian and Jericho. MVP is feuding with Riley at this point over the intercontinental championship. After Riley’s Win for the IC Belt At Wrestlemania The Main-Event arrives Chris Jericho takes on Christian and The Miz for the WWE Championship. In The Dying Minutes Michael Cole Runs in and low blows Christian to allow The Miz to pin him for the WWE Championship and the victory. Alex Riley runs down to the ring with his IC Belt and celebrates with Michael Cole and The Miz thus begging ‘The Two Man Power Trip 2010.
The Smackdown Legion

As is pretty obvious Friday Night Smackdown is at the forefront of this stable. This stable are a group of smackdown superstars who are sick of being treated second class, who are sick of having to play second fiddle to raw and who are sick of having to be on the undercard at the big shows. This stable is run by Edge and CM Punk the other members are Christian, Big Show, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, Chris Masters, Jack Swagger, MVP,Matt Hardy and Kane. Conveniently enough this stable will be born at bragging rights. The Main Event will be Morrison, Cena, Hart Dynasty and Edge vs. Punk, Kingston, Christian ( forget the injury ever happened) Big Show and Ziggler. The Match finishes when every member of team Smackdown has been eliminated except Punk. Morrison, Edge And Cena are left of the Raw Team. After a Spear, Attitude Adjustment and a Starship Pain, Punk is pinned for the 3 count. As the Raw members leave after celebrating CM Punk asks them to stay right there just before there about to walk backstage. Punk claims that this match was always in there favour because the WWE would never let Smackdown amount to anything and how the WWE hates Smackdown. John Cena starts walking down to the ramp when out of nowhere the Smackdown members that i mentioned rush Morrison from backstage. Cena thinks that the crowd are just reacting to punks actions. Without realising what’s happening behind him Cena turns around after being asked to by Punk and gets speared by Edge. All members of The Smackdown Legion enter the ring, put on smackdown T-Shirts and celebrate. Over the next months Punk & Co. would terrorise Raw invading matches, beating up crowd members and winning their titles. The next big landmark for this feud would come at Night of Champions 2 months after Bragging Rights ( The PPV Schedule has to change for this to work). CM Punk ( World and WWE Champion),Edge ( Intercontinental and US Champion), Drew Mcintyre and Cody Rhodes ( Tag Team Champions) take on John Cena, Randy Orton and The Hart Dynasty. The winners of the match get the belts for themselves and their shows. The match is near the end with only Punk and McIntyre, Cena and Orton left. Randy Orton hits an RKO on punk at the same time as Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment on McIntyre. After both moves are hit successfully Cena picks up Orton and hits him with the Attitude Adjustment. Cena then puts Punk on Orton for the 3 count. Cena cuts a promo about how Smackdown is his show and he will lead it to glory. This story and stable would be good for WWE for three reasons. 1. It would giveSmackdown much higher ratings, 2 it would be a great way to turn Cena heel and 3. it would be a great way to unify the titles.
