This will be a competitive for teams, with each of them looking to shatter their losing streaks. Eastern Michigan has lost all of their first four games so far this season, but has one of their best opportunities to grab a win when traveling to Ohio. But Ohio aren’t favorites for no reason, their climatic loss to Marshall last week has earned them enough respect to beat this team by more than a touchdown.

Keys to the Games

* Ohio’s quarterback, Boo Jackson nearly had a great performance against Marshall last weekend, going 11 for 20 for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson showed plenty of composure in the loss, leading the team for a score with no seconds left on the clock. But he did throw an interception and showed signs of bad decision-making when under pressure earlier in the game.

* Eastern Michigan’s defense is among the worst, as they have allowed 46 points per game and 275.3 rushing yards per game. Their last game against an elite Ohio State team resulted in a final score of 73 to 20. Ohio State and Central Michigan have proved they could score on will against Eastern Michigan’s defense.

* Eastern Michigan has lost in their last three meetings against Ohio. But they are running into an Ohio team that has recently made a big change in quarterback, replacing Phil Bates with Boo Jackson. Ohio’s prime running back, Vince Davidson has yet to prove he can run the ball steadily, as Ohio primary focuses on airing it out in their recent games. Davidson should see more carries alongside Jackson, and Eastern Michigan should have a hard time stopping Ohio’s backfield.

Letting a team, any team, chart 70-plus points on your defense is never a good look; Eastern Michigan has only had a week to prepare for the Bobcat’s pass-first offense. Expect Ohio to utilize Jackson in both running the ball and finding his tall receivers, Terrence McCrae and Riley Dunlop. The Bobcats will be able to build a gap within the score in this matchup.
