A battle of Florida teams finds the South Florida Bulls looking to keep things going after a bounce-back win vs Western Kentucky. The Bulls come into the game boasting a 2-1 record with the one loss coming at the hands of a ranked Florida team. Florida Atlantic on the other hand is looking to pull their record back to .500. Following 2 straight losses, things are not going in the right direction for the owls.

The Owls are ranked 84th in points for (22.0 ppg) and 83rd in points against (27.3 ppg). The Bulls on the other hand are ranked 43rd in point for (32.3 ppg) and 53rd in points against (21.3).

Sophomore running back Demetris Murray is leading the Bulls in rushing yards with 223 yards and 1 TD. He’s averaging a whopping 6.2 yards per carry. Sophomore quarterback B.J. Daniels is second on the Bulls with 160 rushing yards and 2 TDs. There is no doubt that the Bulls will come into the game trying to run the ball. Daniels is a decent thrower but won’t amaze. He has 405 yards on the season with 3 TDs and 5 Ints.

While South Florida will be looking to establish the run, Florida Atlantic will be looking to keep their passing game going. Junior QB Jeff Van Camp has 745 yards with 5 TDs and 2 Ints. Senior WR Lester Jean looks to add to his receiving totals of 317 yards and 2 TDs. In the one Florida Atlantic win Jean had a long reception of 77 yards and the Owls will need the passing game to open the running game.

While this seems like a tough football pick, it’s pretty easy to see that South Florida has looked somewhat good this year. Their one loss was to a Florida team who at the time was ranked #8. The final score of that game was 38-14 but the Bulls fueled the fire when Daniel’s had a interception returned for a touchdown. The line on this game is South Florida by 21. South Florida only beating Western Kentucky by 12 points scares me. Western Kentucky came into South Florida with a 0-4 record. I think South Florida will win the game but think it will be closer than the line indicates.
