UFC 119 Results: Winners And Losers From Frank Mir-Mirko Cro Cop Event
UFC 119 took place this past Saturday night in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In the main event former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir took on former Pride open-weight grand prix champion Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic in a snoozer.
It was on this night were Ryan Bader was able to push himself into the light heavyweight elite and Evan Dunham was able to win over fans despite losing.
Overall the UFC 119 event saw it's fair share of boos from the Indianapolis fans, as there were decisions the crowd highly contested and a few lackluster fights.
These are the biggest winners and losers from UFC 119.
UFC 119 Winner: Sean McCorkle Makes Successful UFC Debut Against Mark Hunt
1 of 10
Despite not being known to well in the mixed martial arts world, at UFC 119 Sean McCorkle made his presence felt as he submitted Mark Hunt via straight armbar in just over a minute.
The fight was so quick, the UFC was able to air the bout during the Spike TV broadcast giving McCorkle some well deserved recognition.
It was on this night that McCorkle improved his MMA record to 10-0.
UFC 119 Loser: Mark Hunt Loses By Submission To Sean McCorkle
2 of 10
It was this past Saturday night where Pride and K-1 veteran Mark Hunt lost his sixth straight in the mixed martial arts world.
Despite losing a lot of weight and switching to a new camp, Hunt just couldn't get the job done as he was submitted by Sean McCorkle with a straight armbar early in round 1.
Even with the loophole in his former contract, it's going to be difficult to see the UFC keeping Hunt around.
UFC 119 Winner: C.B. Dollaway Earns Submission Of The Night Over Joe Doerksen
3 of 10
"Ultimate Fighter" season 7 runner-up C.B. Dollaway made his presence felt at UFC 119 when he submitted Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Joe Doerksen with a guillotine choke early in round 1.
Dollaway missed the first guillotine attempt, but as both men were jocking for position, Dollaway was able to secure a much tighter guillotine choke in just slightly over 2 minutes into the first round.
By submitting the veteran Joe Doerksen early, Dollaway earned himself a "Submission of the Night" bonus.
UFC 119 Loser: Jeremy Stephens Split Decision Loss To Melvin Guillard
4 of 10
Jeremy "Lil Heathen" Stephens lost an uneventful fight to Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard.
Despite the early knock down in round 1, for the most part Stephens didn't look like the same fighter and appeared hesitant to pull the trigger.
With the loss to Guillard, Stephens UFC record is now at 5-5 and will be pushed in the back of the long line of hungry 155lb fighters in the UFC.
UFC 119 Winner: Chris Lytle Defeats Matt Serra In Front Of Hometown Crowd
5 of 10
Chris "Lights Out" Lytle was able to defeat former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra in their rematch from the "Ultimate FIghter 4 Finale" by unanimous decision.
It was on this night, Lytle was able to fight his kind of fight and gave the Indianapolis fans something to cheer about as he dominated Matt Serra all three rounds.
UFC 119 Loser: The Indianapolis Crowd
6 of 10
UFC 119 was far from the best UFC event this year, and the fans of Indianapolis in the Conseco Fieldhouse made it no secret as they booed a lot during the event.
From a few debatable decisions, to a lackluster main event, it wasn't hard to see why the Indianapolis crowd showed their disproval.
However, I do disagree with them booing Sean Sherk, he fought his heart out and it wasn't his fault the judges scored it in his favor. ย
UFC 119 Winner: Ryan Bader Moves To Top 10 In The Light Heavyweight Division
7 of 10
"Ultimate Fighter" season 8 light heavyweight winner Ryan Bader has placed himself amongst the elite in the light heavyweight division.
It was just this past Saturday night where Bader defeated Pride veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira via unanimous decision and launched himself into the top 10 rankings.
Bader had some ugly moments in the fight with Nogueira, but still Bader pulled off the decision and improved his MMA record to 13-0. ย
UFC 119 Loser: Matt Serra Loses To Chris Lytle With Bad Game Plan
8 of 10
Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra decided to ignore his own Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu credentials and chose to box with Chris "Lights Out" Lytle.
I don't think it's ever a great idea to box with a former Indiana State Boxing Champion, when your strength is clearly on the mat.
It was on this night that Serra took more shots than a drunk at a whiskey Saloon. ย
UFC 119 Winner: Despite Loss To Sean Sherk Evan Dunham Wins Over The MMA World
9 of 10
Evan Dunham suffered his first loss as a professional to former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk.
However, many feel that Dunham was robbed of the decision, especially the Indianapolis crowd as they booed Sherk.
Even Sean Sherk who won the fight said, "I can see him being UFC champion someday."
Despite the loss, the future looks bright for one Evan Dunham.
UFC 119 Loser: Frank Mir and Mirko Cro Cop Ends Up A Snoozer Despite Knockout
10 of 10
The main event of UFC 119 was easily the most boring fight on the card.
"Cro Cop" looked like a shell of his former self and Frank Mir looked ugly in winning the fight.
Many times Herb Dean had to separate the two men against the fence, as there was very little action between both men.
Frank Mir managed to slightly improve his stock by landing a devastating knee with 58 seconds left, but the damage was already done and the crowd was unimpressed.
