My NCAA Conference Rankings by BDQH

Jabber HeadSep 27, 2010

My Conference Rankings:

1. SEC. Without doubt here. The West is easily the best division in College Football. Even with major disappointment Georgia and a weak East division, the West is strong enough to lead the way.

2. Pac 10. Four undefeated teams. One 2-2 team that almost beat Wisconsin. One 2-2 team that crushed Texas in Austin. This conference is much stronger than expected. Only Washington is a disappointment.

3. Big 12. Nebraska is clearly the class of the conference. Texas is a major disappointment. OU escaped last night. The rest of the conference has not shown much.

4. Big 10. Ohio State leads the way. Wisconsin is solid. The rest of the conference is “iffy.” Iowa loses to Arizona. The two Michigan schools beat up on nobodies. Penn State is on script. Northwestern is doing well. The rest of the conference is weak.

5. MWC. We all know about TCU, and Utah is the real deal. Air Force is very competitive. Only BYU is disappointing. The problem is that the lower-tier teams are very poor.

6. ACC. Very disappointing so far, but they get a slight edge over the WAC. North Carolina State is the only undefeated team. The ACC Coastal has become a huge failure. Va. Tech loses to James Madison.

7. WAC. Boise State is the story, but do not overlook Nevada, who now has a legitimate shot at going undefeated until the Boise State game on Thanksgiving Weekend. The rest are not quite strong enough to pass the ACC yet, but that may be coming.

8. Big East. This conference is a disaster, and should not have a free pass to a BCS game. No undefeated teams. A 0-9 record against BCS conference teams in non-con games. Very, very poor.

9. CUSA. Houston’s injury problems relegate this conference to the #9 spot, where they will probably spend the rest of the season. Just no standout teams.

10. MAC. The sacrificial lambs to the Big 10 have tasted victory, with Temple's win over UConn, Northern Illinois’ win over Minnesota, and Toledo’s upset of Purdue. This conference still has a long ways to go, and probably has the worst team in the FBS (Eastern Michigan) in it.

11. Sunbelt. This is the sacrificial lamb for the SEC and Big 10, and it has nothing to show for their efforts so far this season. A very mediocre bunch of teams.
