NFL's Biggest QB Battles ⚔️

Sam Bradford Efficient in Rams 30-16 Win, Defense Sharp

Bear HeiserSep 26, 2010

Sam Bradford threw the ball 37 times.

Steven Jackson and company ran the ball 37 times.

Now that's what I call balance.

For the first time this season the Rams actually tried to establish a running game. Heck, they didn't even run it that well, averaging only 3.6 yards per rush.

The balance that the run game created allowed quarterback Bradford to run the play-action successfully time and time again.

Jackson only played one and a half quarters, but his contributions set the tone for the rest of the game.

The Rams first drive of the game went eight plays for 61 yards. Jackson had five touches for a total of 51 yards.

As for the groin injury that sent him to the sideline in the second quarter, the status is still unknown at the time.

As Jackson goes, so too does the Rams offense. For the sake of the season, let's hope the groin isn't serious.

One of the biggest criticisms of the Rams coaching staff early on was their failure to make halftime adjustments.

This time around? No such problem as the Rams outscored Washington 16-3 in the second half.

Even though the Rams only sacked McNabb one time, they were in his face all game long.

Defenders were consistently behind the line of scrimmage, especially James Laurinaitis who had four tackles for loss.

Bradford had his best game of the season. So far he is, as promised, the best player in the 2010 draft class. I cannot remember a rookie QB playing with this much success out of the gate.

Is Bradford perfect? No, absolutely not.

But he knows how to not make game-changing mistakes.

Late in the game on third-and-20, Bradford lined up, then called an audible at the line after seeing something in the Redskins defense. He changed the play to a two yard route to Mark Clayton which went for 25-yards and for all intent and purposes, sealed the game for the Rams.

Bradford has gotten better each game of the season. Rams fans really have something to look forward to if his progress continues at this rate.

St. Louis has a big game next week against Seattle. The division is in reach for the Rams if the can string together a few wins in a row.
