Ohio State Midweek Mierda: Preparation Edition

Buckeye CommentaryAug 13, 2008

You can feel the season approaching.  Either that or Cameron Heyward just lowered the boom on someone.  No matter your seismic sensation, you need to prepare for this season, as it is like none before it.  The Buckeyes are defending their own pride and the pride of the Big Ten Conference.  And you, good sir or madam, need to show a little pride.

While showing some pride, you need to look good too.  Since old is new and cool again, Homage Clothing is the easiest way to impress the opposite sex at your tailgates this season.  We stumbled upon these shirts a while ago, and while we do not know any of the folks over there, judging by the cool tunes on their site they hate Michigan.  We told you to wear red before, but we would cut you some slack if you rocked one of the grey tees from this local crew.

Now that you are going to show up at the Horseshoe in style, you need to be armed with knowledge about our beloved Stadium.  That is where WOSU’s Birth of Ohio Stadium comes in handy.  It is unclear when this program was first aired and does not appear to be scheduled for future broadcasts.  Some of you surely saw it the first time around, but if you did not, you can visit the link above and learn more than you imagined about Ohio Stadium.

The Cleveland Browns signed former Buckeye Brandon Mitchell, along with Travis Key from Michigan State.  Mitchell’s signing may not be a total coincidence, as he spent three seasons with Browns defensive coordinator Mel Tucker at Ohio State.  He was signed by Houston as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and spent the year on their practice squad before getting waived last week.

Quarterback battles involving former Buckeyes are taking place at Delaware and Georgia Southern.  It appears that Rob Schoenhoft will be the Blue Hens' starter in their opener against Maryland, while Henton’s ultimate sacrifice for the Buckeyes may not play as well as Poe hoped.  Antonio appears to be third on the Eagles’ depth chart at the moment.

Lucky Numbers: Ohio University offensive lineman Mike Eynon won $250,000 last week in the Mega Millions.  In case you are wondering, this is not a NCAA violation, and Eynon will keep $172,000 after taxes.  We are happy for the Westlake, Ohio native, but something tells me that he and the Bobcats will not have enough remaining luck to hang with the Buckeyes.
