The Miami Heat's Best Chance To Win is with LeBron James at Point Guard

Phil ConstableSep 26, 2010

Following the months of speculation leading to "the decision" we all thought the summer of LeBron James was finally over. But even with Carmelo Anthony doing his own LeBron, King James still has a mini decision surrounding him ahead of the new season: where he should play.

Despite appearing as a small forward on paper in Cleveland, James was forced to perform just about every task to the highest quality simply for the Cavaliers to have even the slightest chance of victory. As chief scorer, playmaker, rebounder, and leader LeBron had no freedom, no margin for error; if he had an average game, they lost.

Now, however, in his move to Miami, James has given himself the all-star cast he wanted and now head coach Eric Spoelstra faces a dilemma as to which role he should use the double MVP in.

In order to win championships you have to have your best players on the court the majority of the time and in Mike Miller the Heat have the perfect complimentary man for James and Wade, a three-point marksman for the superstars to kick out to when driving down the lane, the one problem is that they both play the same position.

Look at it like this: you can either have Miller, Mario Chalmers, or Carlos Arroyo alongside the big three and in my opinion Miller is by far the best of those options.

Back in Cleveland all Mo Williams did was was bring the ball up court, give it to LeBron and let him do all the work, why can't the Heat just cut out the middleman? James averaged eight assists last year with a lackluster Cavalier lineup, put him in a team with Wade, Bosh and Miller the possibilities are endless. Think of a 6'9" Steve Nash who also has the ability to get to the rim, or the line, with consummate ease.

The Miami Heat have an unprecedented opportunity to be one of the most dominant teams in the history of professional sports over the next five years and they will be at their most dominant and will play their best basketball with LeBron James in the Magic Johnson role at point guard
