The Macho Rhino Week 3 NFL Selections

Macho RhinoSep 26, 2010

Week 3 is a pivotal week for many NFL teams.  Some can validate a 2-0 start by staying undefeated while others desperately try to avoid starting the season 0-3.  The pressure is on and it’s time for some guys to start earning their paychecks.  On to the picks:

Cleveland Browns (0-2) at Baltimore Ravens (1-1) - The Browns offense must give Josh Cribbs the ball more.  The Ravens defense will be salty after last week and shut the Browns down.  Ravens 27, Browns 6

Buffalo Bills (0-2) at New England Patriots (1-1) - The Bills decided to start Ryan Fitzpatrick this week.  He might play a little better than Trent Edwards but they don’t have players who can make big plays in the passing game.  The Patriots will be out to show they’re better than they played in the second half of last week’s game at the Jets.  Patriots 24, Bills 10

Atlanta Falcons (1-1) at New Orleans Saints (2-0) - Two of the best teams in the NFC as the defending Super Bowl Champs return home.  The Falcons will hang around but as he showed Monday night, Drew Brees can lead the drive when they need it.  Saints 24, Falcons 20

Tennessee Titans (1-1) at New York Giants (1-1) - The Colts ran all over the Gaints last week and  now Chris Johnson gets his turn.  He runs for over 150 yards and the Titans win.  Titans 28, Giants 24

Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) at Carolina Panthers (0-2) - Jimmy Clausen makes his first start for the Panthers against a good Bengals defense.  I think Clausen will be a good QB in the NFL but not this week.  The Bengals are just too talented for the Panthers.  Bengals 31, Panthers 13

Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0) - This is a FG fest as neither team has much offense.  The SteelersSteelers 12, Buccaneers 6

San Francisco 49ers (0-2) at Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) - The Niners need a win.  They’ll feed Frank Gore the ball and hope he can carry them to their first win.  The Chiefs are tough at home and the crowd should keep them in it.  The Chiefs get a FG late to go 3-0.  Chiefs 20, 49ers 17

Detroit Lions (0-2) at Minnesota Vikings (0-2) - The Vikings need a receiver to step up and make a big play down the field this week.  This is going to be a tough game for the Vikings but being at home gets them their first win.  Vikings 27, Lions 20

Dallas Cowboys (0-2) at Houston Texans (2-0) - The Cowboys offense will play better this week but they won’t score enough to beat the Texans.  Houston is good and at home so they’re going to send a message with a convincing win against the in-state rival Cowboys.Texans 24, Cowboys 17

Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1) - For someone reason, I think the Jags are going to pull this one out.  Even with Michael Vick being named the starter this week, I think Jacksonville finds a way to edge the Eagles this week.  Jaguars 20, Eagles 17

Washington Redskins (1-1) at St. Louis Rams (0-2) - Sam Bradford has played pretty well and should continue to improve each week.  He’ll keep his team competitive but the Redskins have better talent.  Donovan McNabb will make plays to get the win.  Redskins 21, Rams 16

Indianapolis Colts (1-1) at Denver Broncos (1-1) - The Broncos won’t be able to pressure Peyton Manning and he’ll shred their defense.  The Broncos get a little going in the second half but this one won’t be coach.  Colts 31, Broncos 17

Oakland Raiders (1-1) at Arizona Cardinals (1-1) - Both teams are needing better play from their quarterbacks.  The Raiders I think with Bruce Gradkowski will beat the anemic Cardinals’ offense led by Derek Anderson.  Raiders 16, Cardinals 13

San Diego Chargers (1-1) at Seattle Seahawks (1-1) - The Seahawks played great week 1 and then were unimpressive last week in Denver.  I think the Seahawks will play well at home again. But Darren Sproles tends to come up big when he gets the majority of the carries for SD.  The Chargers will find a way to pull this one out.   Chargers 24, Seahawks 20

New York Jets (1-1) at Miami Dolphins (2-0) - The Braylon Edwards scandal this week hurt this team and is a distraction they definitely didn’t need.  The Dolphins are playing well and will take control of the AFC East with this win.  Dolphins 20, Jets 16

Monday, Sept. 27
Green Bay Packers (2-0) at Chicago Bears (2-0) - The Packers have a great offense but will face their toughest defense this week in Chicago.  Jay Cutler will be tested as well against a great secondary.  The Pack just have more playmakers.  Packers 30, Bears 21
