UFC 119 Results:: Chris Lytle (39-17-4) vs. Matt Serra (17-6)

1st round – Herb Dean is the referee for this welterweight rematch pitting a former champ against a fight-of-the-night regular. Lytle definitely has the crowd behind him as he is the clear-cut favorite as far as the crowd is concerned.
Serra comes out hunched over and Lytle has his upright stance. Serra comes out trying to work the body of Lytle—he is tagged with a right hand however. Lytle goes down and gets on Serra’s level trying to land his straight jabs.
Serra has his body shots blocked and ducks away from Lytle’s uppercuts. Serra pushes forward and hits Lytle with a right hand.
Lytle escapes and resets in the center of the cage. Serra hits with a right hand that stumbles Lytle for a moment.
Serra is consistently finding a home with his uppercuts. Lytle answers with an uppercut of his own and then hits with an overhand right. Serra makes Lytle miss and hits with a couple of body shots before breaking free.
Lytle hits with a stiff left jab but Serra pushes forward. He gets hit with several rights, but Serra continues to come forward as the bell ends the round.

2nd round – Serra looks beat up and Lytle looks fairly fresh as they come out for the second round. Serra connects with a couple of left jabs.
They now trade and take turns stumbling each other, Serra goes to a knee, gets up and just rocks Lytle. Lytle hits the body of Serra and then backs up and resets in front of Serra.
Lytle hits with a nice uppercut, but gets tagged with a left hand. Lytle comes back and hits with several more shots to the face and body of Serra.
Serra looks to be rocked, but comes back and gets right back in there. Lytle hits with a solid uppercut, but Serra hits with three body shots.
Serra is tagged with an uppercut to the chin. Lytle is connecting with several shots, but Serra doesn't back away. He gets tagged once again and seems to be ready to fall, he doesn't.
Lytle hits with a left hand and then hammers away with a right hand. Lytle senses Serra is in trouble and pushes forward, but can't finish him. The round ends with both fighters swinging for the fences.

3rd round – The last round is underway and both fighters have their battle marks. Serra has Lytle on his heels but Lytle quickly recovers. Serra goes for the takedown, but Lytle defends.
Serra just clips Lytle with a right hand, and follows that with a series of leg kicks. Serra hits Lytle on the body and then ducks under an uppercut by Lytle. Lytle lunges in and tags Serra with a left uppercut.
Serra hits with a leg kick but is then hit with a right hand by Lytle. Serra hits again with a leg kick and then works punches to the body of Lytle. Lytle hits with a left hand and then backs away from Serra’s big right hand.
Lytle connects with a left hook that grazes Serra’s face. Serra hits with another leg kick and then a superman punch. Serra misses with a spinning back fist and gets clipped with a big left hand by Lytle.
Serra hits the body of Lytle and then misses with a head kick as the bell ends the fight.
