Frank Lampard has agreed a new deal with Chelsea despite speculation that Inter Milan were preparing another bid for him.

Lampard was locked in an 18-month stalemate but eventually got the length of contract he was looking for, keeping the England midfielder at Stamford Bridge until 2013 and effectively committing the rest of his career to the club.

The 30-year-old will be among Chelsea's high earners and he revealed his delight at staying with those who rallied around him when his mother, Pat, passed away in April from pneumonia.

It ensures he will be in the reckoning for an England place as well.
