Last week the Eagles pulled out a close 35-32 win over the Lions as 3.5-point chalk, while the Jaguars got their lunch handed to them by the San Diego Chargers in a 38-13 defeat as 8.5-point dogs tying the Raiders for the biggest defeat of the season thus far.

Philadelphia enters Week 3 with the 12th ranked passing attack led by Michael Vick who has taken the starting QB job from Kevin Kolb after a strong showing in Week 2. He threw for 284 yards to go with two touchdown passes. The 2nd ranked rushing attack has had a major upgrade with rookie LeSean McCoy gaining 120 yards on the ground with three touchdowns. The offense rumbled for 24 first downs and converted 6-of-14 third down attempts, but the O-Line gave up a whopping six sacks. They didn’t turn the ball over and had a T.O.P. of 30:52. The defense allowed 450 yards of total offense and recorded a pair of sacks and INT’s.

If Jacksonville wants any hope of getting back on track this season it needs to take a big look at its offense that ranks 15th in passing and 17th in rushing while only scoring an average of 15 PPG the first two weeks. David Garrard passed for 293 yards and a TD while tossing an atrocious four interceptions. The rushing attack ran for an unacceptable 71 yards. They converted 50 percent of their third down attempts and earned 20 first downs, but the six turnovers killed any shot they had of escaping SD with a “W”. The ‘D’ recorded two interceptions and one sack, but got torched to the tune of 477 yards of overall offense.

Philadelphia has failed to cover each of its L/5 games dating back to last season, but have rallied under HC Reid going a $$$-making 21-8 ATS if it allowed more than 30 points its previous game. Jacksonville has killed its betting backers at home covering just four of its L/17 tries, but stands 3-2 SU & ATS when installed a home pup of three points or less the L/2 seasons.
