NFL Picks Week 3: Will The Houston Texans Force The Dallas Cowboys To 0-3?

Mihir BhagatSep 23, 2010

With the 2010 NFL season underway, it's time for predictions!

Here are my Week 3 picks for all 16 games. You'll see some interesting selections, including my thoughts on whether or not the Houston Texans can beat the Dallas Cowboys and force them to 0-3.

Last Week: 7-9

Cumulative Season Record: 16-16

Tennessee Titans @ New York Giants

Winner: Tennessee Titans

This is an incredibly tough game to predict because it'll depend on a wide array of factors. Will Chris Johnson have a bounce back game? Will the Giants' pass rush dominate? How will Eli Manning perform?

This is also a battle between Derrick Morgan and Jason Pierre-Paul. It'll be interesting to see whether Pierre-Paul can justify his higher selection in this year's draft.

That aside, if I were to choose, I'd go with the Titans.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Carolina Panthers

2 of 16

Winner: Cincinnati Bengals

Heading into the season, I felt that the Panthers would bounce back and possibly post a winning record.

However, they've looked absolutely abysmal, especially against the Buccaneers last week.

That said, I'm confident that the Bengals can win this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers

Both teams have shocked the NFL world and opened the season 2-0. Unfortunately, one team's bid for perfection will cease this week.

Considering that the Bucs have yet to beat a quality opponent, this will be their first true test.

However, the Steelers are the more skilled club and should pull out the win here.

Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots

4 of 16

Winner: New England Patriots

The Bills are poised to only win a couple games this season, and one certainly won't come against the Patriots.

It'll be interesting to see how Tom Brady & Co. perform against the Bills' underrated secondary.

Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens

Winner: Baltimore Ravens

Simply said, the Baltimore Ravens are the more talented team. It would be an absolute shocker if they lose to the Browns at home.

San Francisco 49ers @ Kansas City Chiefs

6 of 16

Winner: San Francisco 49ers

This is a critical game for both teams. The winless 49ers head on the road into the intense Arrowhead Stadium to take on the 2-0 Chiefs.

For the Chiefs, this is an opportunity to make some added noise and prove they are the real deal.

On the flip side, in order to avoid going 0-3, the 49ers need to find a way to stop Jamaal Charles and a surprisingly stout defense.

The 49ers looked solid taking it to the wire against the defending champs and they should feel motivated to bring home a win here.

Dallas Cowboys @ Houston Texans

Winner: Houston Texans

The Cowboys truly can't afford to lose this game, but based on how they've played lately they most likely will.

The offense simply isn't executing, and it won't be enough to keep up with the prolific Texans.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

8 of 16

Winner: Minnesota Vikings

I was skeptical of the criticism that the Vikings were receiving, and projected them to win 10 games and go to the Super Bowl.

So far, they've made me look like an idiot.

At the same time, even though the Lions have looked strong lately, I think the Vikings will end up winning this game.

If they don't they'll slip down to a pathetic 0-3 start

Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints

Winner: New Orleans Saints

This is one of the most intriguing games of the week, as two division rivals will face off in a critical battle for the NFC South lead.

The Saints were 6-2 at home last year, and the Falcons were 3-5 on the road. I expect that trend to continue, and the Saints should win this one.

Washington Redskins @ St. Louis Rams

10 of 16

Winner: Washington Redskins

Despite combining for five wins last season, both teams have looked relatively impressive this year.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Jacksonville Jaguars

11 of 16

Winner: Philadelphia Eagles

I'm going with the Eagles because I thin the Jaguars will be overwhelmed by the daunting task of containing Michael Vick,

He's looked like a premier quarterback over the last two weeks, and I'm glad he's been given the opportunity to start.

Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos

Winner: Indianapolis Colts

After getting stomped on by the Texans, the Colts validated their greatness with a commanding victory over the Giants.

This would be a huge upset if the Broncos come away with the win here.

Oakland Raiders @ Arizona Cardinals

Winner: Oakland Raiders

The Cardinals are clearly feeling those key offseason losses, and after a 41-7 beating, it doesn't seem like that will change anytime soon.

The Raiders, on the other hand, are a team on the rise and since their porous defense won't be exposed against a weak Cardinals ground game, they should have enough to pull out a win.

San Diego Chargers @ Seattle Seahawks

Winner: San Diego Chargers

Both teams displayed their true colors last week, and we learned that the Chargers' offense is still effective without Vincent Jackson.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins

15 of 16

Winner: Miami Dolphins

Until news broke that Darrelle Revis' hamstring issue would keep him sidelined for this game, I had the Jets winning.

With him, they're a contender. Without him, they're not. It's as simple as that.

And, since the Dolphins have been playing so well lately, it'll be tough to win without Revis Island covering Brandon Marshall.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears

16 of 16
GLENDALE, AZ - JANUARY 03: Charles Woodson #21 of the Green Bay Packers runs for a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals in the second quarter at University of Phoenix Stadium on January 3, 2010 in Glendale, Arizona.

Winner: Green Bay Packers

While both of these teams are 2-0, the Packers are and should be the clear favorites.

They are a complete football team, and should be able to top the Bears.
