NFL Rumors: Did Kendra’s Hubby Hank Baskett Cost Vincent Jackson Vikings Gig?

Tom KinslowSep 22, 2010

For week three of the NFL season, there sure are a lot of rumors swirling around, with a large focus being San Diego wideout Vincent Jackson and Mr. Kendra Wilkinson, Hank Baskett.

There have been rumors of numerous teams being interested and how certain signings, including Baskett's have affected the market for him, which will all but die in about a half hour.

Inside you'll find more on the Jackson front and plenty of other rumors in the NFL.

Hank Baskett to Minnesota

1 of 10

With Hank Baskett heading to Minnesota after being cut by the Eagles, the question needs to be asked. Are the Vikings done with trying to trade for Vincent Jackson.

The deadline for a trade with a reduced suspension is quickly approaching and it looks more and more like a deal will not be reached between the two teams. But let's not hope that the Vikings are not delusional enough to think Baskett will solve their problems.

Mr. Kendra Wilkinson has never been a good receiver and ask Colts fans what they think of their former onside kick muffing special teams player.

Hank and Kendra were engaged in 2008, Baskett's last full season with the Eagles. Baskett's numbers in that season are what you'd expect from a mediocre wideout.

He caught 33 passes for 440 yards and three touchdowns that year. During the preseason a year later, Baskett was cut so that the Eagles could make room for Michael Vick.

Good thing she's the breadwinner in the relationship. Because 33 catches sure isn't getting the job done.

Baskett eventually landed with the Indianapolis Colts and did nothing during his year with Peyton Manning in company.

This was during a year where Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie became household names. Do you know how bad you have to be to not be made to look somewhat good by Peyton Manning? That tells you all you need to know about Baskett's skill set.

The only time I saw him on the field is when he muffed the Saints' onside kick to start the second half in the Super Bowl. After the game, Kendra left the stadium in tears as fans harrassed her.

Way to go Hank, you made your wife cry.

According to a report by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams have passed on trying to trade for San Diego wideout Vincent Jackson.

St. Louis was scared away by having to spend money and draft picks on a player with DUI issues didn't make good business sense for the team. Maybe San Diego should realize that Jackson isn't as valuable as A.J. Smith makes him out to be.

Well that would make too much sense for a hard-headed moron like Smith.

Kolb On The Trading Block?

Pro Football Talk reported today that after the news of Kevin Kolb's benching broke last night, the Cleveland Browns called the Eagles about acquiring the quarterback.

Today, during his daily press conference, Andy Reid was pressed by the media about Kolb's position on the roster and Reid couldn't guarantee that we'd see Kolb on the sidelines in an Eagles uniform after the trade deadline.

If Kolb is traded this year, it's one of the most mismanaged roster situations I've ever seen in my entire life. It's almost like Reid is running a fantasy football team, not a professional franchise.

Teammates Don't Believe Jacobs Wants Out

While Brandon Jacobs may not have formally requested a trade from the Giants yet, his teammates don't believe that he wants out.

Jacobs was benched last Sunday against the Colts and compounded the issue by throwing his helmet into the crowd in a rage. The rumors of him wanting out of New York soon followed.

Eli Manning and Ahmad Bradshaw both came out and said to the New York Daily News that they don't believe Jacobs wants to leave, with Manning saying that this situation came out of Jacobs being an emotional guy and things getting out of control.

Either way, this situation is not a good look for the Giants.

Marshawn Lynch To Green Bay?

Once Ryan Grant went down in Green Bay, the Packers have looked for a replacement to try and fill the void.

While Brandon Jackson is the guy for now, Marshawn Lynch has been rumored as a possible fill-in in Green Bay. The Bills have a log jam at running back and with C.J. Spiller's addition to the roster, it looks like Lynch is the odd man out.

The two teams have discussed about swapping Lynch for linebacker A.J. Hawk and it'll be interesting to see if there's a deal if Jackson doesn't work out in Green Bay.

Stafford To Play On Sunday?

When Matthew Stafford injured his shoulder in the season opener against Chicago, the timetable for recovery was four-to-six weeks.

Now, I'm not sure if it's gamesmanship, but Jim Schwartz wouldn't rule his franchise quarterback out for this week's game against Minnesota during his conference call with the media. If Stafford plays, it's either a testament to his stupidity or his toughness.

We saw Stafford play with a shoulder injury last year but at some point, you need to draw the line and think about the future and let Stafford's shoulder heal.

Wade Phillips Out in Dallas?

Now take this rumor with a grain of salt as it came from prosportsblogging.com, but the rumor is that Wade Phillips is on the verge of being fired in Dallas.

The report says that Jerry Jones is quietly gauging the interest of Bill Cowher and Brian Billick in coaching the team. It goes on to say that if the Cowboys lose this week to Houston, Jones won't hesitate to fire Phillips for an 0-3 start and that two other candidates are Marty Schottenheimer and Steve Mariucci.

I'm not sure how valid this report is, but it's something I could see happening with Jerry Jones' penchant for being very demanding of his teams.

Gradkowski in For Oakland?

According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the Raiders will turn to Bruce Gradkowski to start under center for them this Sunday.

It doesn't come as a huge shock, if true, seeing how pitiful Jason Campbell look in his game and a half of action this season. After hearing how good Campbell looked in camp, I'm a little stunned at how poorly he performed once the lights came on.

Then again, it's the Raiders and they couldn't protect him either. Gradkowski isn't the answer. In fact, I'm not sure what the answer is in Oakland. It's just an utter mess there
