Real Madrid vs Espanyol Live: September 21, 2010
Espanyol’s coach has issued something of a challenge to Madrid saying the Real Madrid “like bite” underneath Mourinho. This isn’t exactly a claim without merit, at least as far as their domestic performances go; they certainly don’t look anywhere near as good as the team managed by Pellegrini last season.
On the other hand Real have picked up a little bit of steam since their poor opening match up in which they barely managed a draw. Although the team have looked a little bit shaky at times, they should still be able to beat Espanyol. The “special one” has attracted even more media attention aside from the fact that Real Madrid don’t look like as much of a force as they did, which is the issue regarding his caretaker position at Portugal.

Ronaldo has finally got his name on the scoreboard and if Ronaldo comes back into form then that might be enough to put some drive back into the lacklustre Real Madrid that we’ve been seeing recently. However there is never a better time to turn your game around than at home against a side whose manager has been insulting your performance.
Espanyol’s manager may have a big mouth, but his team is unlikely to take advantage of Real Madrid’s lack of “bite”, it’s not as if Espanyol are a bad side or even as if they are on bad form.
The side has looked pretty good, but beating Real Madrid at home is not an easy feat, it will be difficult just to manage a draw against one of the two giants in La Liga. Real should walk this match without a great deal of difficulty. Last year this fixture ended 3-0 with Real looking by far the better side.
