NFL: It's Only Week 2, but Some Teams Are Turning Heads

Nabeel AhmadiehSep 20, 2010

In the NFL, fans and media members alike get overly excited or overly dramatic early in the season.  If your 2-0, things are looking good and everyone on your side of the fence is happy and already talking playoffs.  At 0-2, these first weeks have been rough and your preparing yourself for a long season.

Not so fast though!  We have to remember its only Week 2, and that means each team has 14 games left.  So let’s slow down, and take a look at each team on each end of the stick.

The Good: 2-0

Beating the Vikings away from home was impressive, especially after forcing four Brett Favre turnovers.  Their young pass rushers Cameron Wake and Koa Misi have been ahead of the curve from the outside linebacker position.

Moving forward the Dolphins are going to need to put up more than 14.5 points per game to be serious playoff contenders.

Quarterback Chad Henne has been solid, but far from great.

Pittsburg Steelers

Props to defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, the best in the business, because this defense looks amazing.  The team has won both games without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger against solid opponents in the Titans and Falcons

This team very well could be a Super Bowl team when they get Big Ben back.

The Texans dismantled the Colts with their running attack at home and then followed it up with an impressive 17 point comeback win against the Washington Redskins

Quarterback Matt Schaub threw for 497 yards and three touchdowns, a week after running back Arian Foster ran for 231 yards.

The Texans are for real.

Beat the San Diego Chargers in a fluky game and encored with a road victory over the Cleveland Browns

I’m not hopping on this bandwagon just yet.

You can’t be surprised here?  The Packers are right where they should be at 2-0, after beating a young Eagles team and a weak Bills team at home.

Jay Cutler in his last four starts: 1,198 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and two interceptions.  Uh-oh NFC North, look out!

Their defense looked very good against the Dallas Cowboys as well, holding the running backs to 1.9 yards per carry and forcing two turnovers.

I like quarterback Josh Freeman and rookie wide receiver Mike Williams.  But this team will win five games or less, even with a two game head start.

The Bad: 0-2

Cleveland Browns

Quarterbacks Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme have both thrown interceptions that were returned for touchdowns in the first two weeks.

Over/Under on a Week 9 Colt McCoy appearance?

Buffalo Bills

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick takes the helm to try and give this team a spark.

Can’t decide what’s worst, that their 0-2 or that Fitzpatrick is going to be the starting quarterback in Week 3.

Dallas Cowboys

This team has a lot of talent, but they clown off as individuals too much and lack leadership.  Their coaching staff has to be the reason to blame for the lack of leadership.

Bill Cowher — 2011 Dallas Cowboys head coach?

After a four turnover game against the Miami Dolphins, are we really sure that Brett Favre is the answer for this Vikings team?

Favre absolutely sucked.  It could be a lack of talent around him without wide receiver Sidney Rice or it might just be Favre was ACTUALLY ready to retire, but was talked back by his Vikings teammates.

The Lions are 0-2, is anyone really surprised?

But, this team is finally competing and playing hard.  Jim Schwartz is a great coach.

So much for quarterback Matt Moore’s success to close out last season.

Hello Jimmy Clausen!

St. Louis Rams

As long as the Rams O-line can keep Sam Bradford healthy, he will be a Pro-Bowler in this league.
