NFL Power Rankings Week 3: Brett Favre Plummets in the Quarterback Rankings
Week 2 saw plenty of quarterbacks lead their teams to victory, but some played so poorly that they ended up riding the pine as their former clipboard holders attempted to steer the offenses into the end zones in hopes of a dramatic comeback.
Vince Young was benched for Kerry Collins, Matt Moore for Jimmy Clausen, Jason Campbell for Bruce Gradkowski, and David Garrard for Luke McCown.
Dennis Dixon was injured and with Byron Leftwich off of the roster, Charlie Batch was forced into action.
Brett Favre was awful and may wish he had never unretired yet again.
Needless to say, it was an active week for the signal callers.
Join me on a journey through the Week 3 power rankings of the quarterbacks in this wonderful sport.
No. 32: Jason Campbell (Last Week: No. 27)
1 of 34
Last Week:
16-14 win over the St. Louis Rams
8/15, 87 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception
3 carries, 19 yards
This Season:
30/52, 267 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
10 carries, 54 yards
The Reaction:
Jason Campbell may have started a game that ended up with the Oakland Raiders getting a win, but he does not deserve the credit.
In fact, Campbell did his best to make the Raiders lose the game. Bruce Gradkowski, Campbell's backup, is the one who came in and led Oakland to its win.
After his second-straight poor performance, the new member of the Raiders may become nothing more than a clipboard holder. There are reports that Gradkowski will be taking over the starting job.
It's never a good sign when your job is in danger just two games into your tenure, but that's the situation for the ex-Redskin. However, Campbell should be given at least one more chance to prove himself.
No. 31: Ryan Fitzpatrick (Last Week: Unranked)
2 of 34
Last Week:
7-34 loss to the Green Bay Packers
Did not play
This Season:
Has not played
The Reaction:
Following the latest ineffective performance by Trent Edwards, head coach Chan Gailey announced that Ryan Fitzpatrick will start for the Bills in their upcoming game against the New England Patriots.
The Bills thus far have produced both the lowest number of points and the lowest number of yards in the entire NFL.
Fitzpatrick has performed decently in his previous brief tenures in the spotlight as a starting quarterback, but there is no real threat of him becoming a long-time starter.
No. 30: Jimmy Clausen (Last Week: Unranked)
3 of 34
Last Week:
7-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
7/13, 59 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception
1 carry, 0 yards
This Season:
7/15, 59 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception
1 carry, 0 yards
The Reaction:
Jimmy Clausen came on in relief on the ineffective Matt Moore in the fourth quarter of a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It took him just one drive to complete as many passes as Moore had in the previous three quarters. That drive, which ended at the goal line as Jonathan Stewart was stopped short of a touchdown, was enough to establish Clausen as the new starter.
The rookie out of Notre Dame has been deemed as NFL-ready and we'll get a chance to see a trial-by-fire next Sunday.
No. 29: Derek Anderson (Last Week: No. 21)
4 of 34
Last Week:
7-41 loss to the Atlanta Falcons
17/31, 161 yards, 0 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
This Season:
39/72, 458 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
1 carry, 9 yards
The Reaction:
The picture on the left says it all. Anderson was simply awful agains the Falcons and couldn't muster up anything that even resembled an offense. His offense was. . . well. . . offensive.
The only touchdown came on an 80-yard run. Anderson didn't exactly help on that drive.
In fact, the new Cardinal was replaced by Max Hall in the fourth quarter. If Anderson doesn't suddenly get better, that could be a more permanent move next time.
No. 28: Seneca Wallace (Last Week: Unranked)
5 of 34
Last Week:
14-16 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs
16/31, 229 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
1 carry, 4 yards
This Season:
16/31, 229 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
1 carry, 4 yards
The Reaction:
Seneca Wallace didn't play too poorly, but he didn't play very well either.
He barely completed over half of his passes, only threw for 229 yards, and made the play that sparked the Chiefs' victory.
The Chiefs scored their only touchdown on a play about which Wallace said: "It was a bad, bad decision by me. I'll take responsibility for that." The result of his second quarter mistake was an interception that Brandon Flowers took to the house for six points.
Wallace is going to have to pick it up to keep the job over Jake Delhomme and Colt McCoy.
No. 27: Matt Cassel (Last Week: No. 28)
6 of 34
Last Week:
16-14 win over the Cleveland Browns
16/28, 176 yards, 0 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
4 carries, 5 yards
This Season:
26/50, 244 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
6 carries, 9 yards
The Reaction:
Week 2 had the same basic plotline as Week 1 for the Kansas City Chiefs: Matt Cassel does not play well, but the Chiefs still manage to win.
The 2-0 start by the Chiefs is shocking, even more shocking when you look at Cassel's dreadful production thus far this season.
He's barely completed half of his passes and it's taken him two games to get to an amount of passing yards that Peyton Manning would consider a bad day.
Yuck.
No. 26: Byron Leftwich (Last Week: Unranked)
7 of 34
Last Week:
19-11 win over the Tennessee Titans
Did not play
This Season:
Has not played
The Reaction:
Byron Leftwich was most recently in the news for being dropped by the Pittsburgh Steelers to make room on their roster for an extra player. Now he's going to be starting for the Steelers against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week.
Leftwich will be the third replacement for Ben Roethlisberger thus far in the season. Dennis Dixon began the regular season as the starter, but tore his meniscus and gave way to Charlie Batch. Now Leftwich will take over the quarterback carousel.
Leftwich has always produced when he's been asked to play, both in Jacksonville and Tampa Bay. But this team lies outside of Florida and it's anyone's guess how he'll do knowing that the most games he will be asked to start is two.
No. 25: Shaun Hill (Last Week: No. 32)
8 of 34
Last Week:
32-35 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles
25/45, 335 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
3 carries, 16 yards
This Season:
34/64, 423 yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions
6 carries, 12 yards
The Reaction:
Except for the two picks, Shaun Hill exceeded expectations in this game by just giving the Lions a prayer.
Was the game as close as the score indicated? No, absolutely not. The Lions' points were gained in garbage time as they fought desperately to claw their way back into the game.
Somehow, someway, Hill almost pulled off a miracle win. The Lions fought back 15 points and then recovered an onside kick, but couldn't drive down the field for a game-tying field goal.
Hill's numbers are buoyed both by the immense workload placed on him in this pass-happy game and by the fact that he was attempting to lead a comeback. As always, that comeback came through an aerial assault.
Hill is still not going to be mistaken for a good NFL quarterback and will certainly lose his job when Matthew Stafford returns from injury.
No. 24: Alex Smith (Last Week: No. 30)
9 of 34
Last Week:
22-25 loss to the New Orleans Saints
23/32, 275 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
4 carries, 28 yards
This Season:
49/77, 500 yards, 1 touchdown, 4 interceptions
4 carries, 28 yards
The Reaction:
Alex Smith almost managed to do the unthinkable and lead the 49ers to a dramatic win over the reigning Super Bowl champions.
It took a late touchdown and a reply-reviewed two-point conversion by the quarterback and his tight end Vernon Davis, but Smith and the 49ers fought their way back into the Monday night contest and forced the Saints to win on a last second field goal by Garret Hartley.
The 49ers gained 417 yards in the game, 130 more than the defending champions. Smith himself said after the game that: "We were productive, but for all the yards we got we should have gotten a lot more points."
Echoing Smith's sentiments, the quarterback isn't going to be able to take the next step in his development until he starts putting up more points. He's making the throws, the runs, and the right decisions.
The points should start coming soon.
No. 23: Sam Bradford (Last Week: No. 26)
10 of 34
Last Week:
14-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders
14/25, 167 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception
This Season:
46/80, 420 yards, 3 touchdowns, 4 interceptions
The Reaction:
The Rams really seemed to limit what Bradford was allowed to do in his second NFL game. After hurling 55 passes in the first, he only threw 25 in this game.
In fact, Bradford only threw four passes to wide receivers in the entire first half, one of which gave the Rams a 7-0 lead.
The Oklahoma product was much less mistake prone this game. Despite the loss, he appeared to take a stride forward in his development as a quarterback.
No. 22: David Garrard (Last Week: No. 12)
11 of 34
Last Week:
13-38 loss to the San Diego Chargers
15/23, 173 yards, 1 touchdown, 4 interceptions
1 carry, -1 yard
This Season:
31/44, 343 yards, 4 touchdowns, 4 interceptions
8 carries, 9 yards
The Reaction:
Luke McCown's season-ending injury may be the only reason there isn't a quarterback controversy in Jacksonville.
As David Garrard said after the game: "It was a terrible day at the office. It's a day that you don't want to have. Honestly, if I could erase my memory from today, I would, but we can't."
Garrard's four interceptions made up the majority of the Jag's franchise record-setting six turnovers.
His only redeeming moment from the game came on a late touchdown pass to Mike Sims-Walker, a play that Jaguars fans hope will be a spark for the duo. Unfortunately for Garrard, the pass was meaningless. It came after he replaced McCown in garbage time after the backup's injury.
No. 21: Matt Hasselbeck (Last Week: No. 14)
12 of 34
Last Week:
14-31 loss to the Denver Broncos
20/35, 233 yards, 1 touchdown, 3 interceptions
3 carries, 21 yards, 1 touchdown
This Season:
38//58, 403 yards, 3 touchdowns, 4 interceptions
5 carries, 25 yards, 2 touchdowns
The Reaction:
So much for the good start that Matt Hasselbeck got off to in his first game.
The Seahawks only had the ball for just over 22 minutes of the game and didn't do much when they had it.
Hasselbeck threw picks deep within the red zone to Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins. His third interception was forced by Perrish Cox as the game was drawing to a close.
Bailey also swatted a fourth-down pass from the endzone in the fourth quarter to prevent another touchdown.
If Hasselbeck is going to lead the Seahawks to the playoffs out of the weak NFC West, this is not the way to do so.
No. 20: Carson Palmer (Last Week: No. 19)
13 of 34
Last Week:
15-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens
16/35, 167 yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
3 carries, -1 yard
This Season:
50/85, 512 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception
7 carries, 8 yards
The Reaction:
Ugly would have to be the word used to describe the victory of Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals over the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite all the weapons, Palmer still couldn't produce a single touchdown for his team, whether through the air or on the ground. The Ravens' defense is tough, but still, you'd think that with Chad Ochocinco, Terrell Owens, Jordan Shipley, Jermaine Gresham, and Cedric Benson he could've done something.
Palmer will still turn it around at least a little bit, but he is confirming the suspicions that his best days are behind him.
No. 19: Brett Favre (Last Week: No. 13)
14 of 34
Last Week:
10-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins
22/36, 225 yards, 0 touchdowns, 3 interceptions
This Season:
37/63, 396 yards, 1 touchdown, 4 interceptions
The Reaction:
Brett Favre's play resulted in four turnovers, three interceptions, and a lost fumble in the end zone.
Ouch.
Two of the interceptions came at the goal line and one was the result of a miscommunication. Sounds like the Vikings need some work before we anoint them as a playoff team.
The problem is that Favre may simply not have it anymore. He isn't making the throws he used to be able to and he certainly isn't making all the right decisions.
Maybe it just takes longer for old engines to get revved up though.
No. 18: Joe Flacco (Last Week: No. 9)
15 of 34
Last Week:
10-15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals
17/39, 154 yards, 1 touchdown, 4 interceptions
3 carries, 9 yards
This Season:
37/77, 402 yards, 1 touchdown, 5 interceptions
7 carries, 11 yards
The Reaction:
Joe Flacco was simply awful in this game and couldn't even lead his team to a victory in a game where his defense dominated and held the opposing team without a touchdown.
Speaking about his four interceptions after the game, Flacco said: "It's a tough one for me. Turning the ball over four times is tough. You don't like feeling responsible for why we didn't win the game. Everything about it's tough. We didn't do enough on offense."
His passer rating was a measly 22.8 in the game and he didn't even complete a pass in the first quarter.
He's young and he'll get better again, but this was just flat-out terrible.
No. 17: Vince Young (Last Week: No. 7)
16 of 34
Last Week:
11-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers
7/10, 66 yards, 0 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
2 carries, 12 yards
This Season:
20/27, 220 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
9 carries, 42 yards
The Reaction:
Vince Young was simply terrible against the Steelers' tough defense and the result was the misfortune of sitting on the bench and watching backup quarterback Kerry Collins lead the offense.
Young deserved to benched in this game. He did give up the ball to the defense three times, the result of two interceptions and a lost fumble.
Jeff Fisher has promised that he will indeed start Young again, but he won't be making any more promises if the production doesn't pick up significantly from this debacle.
No. 16: Mark Sanchez (Last Week: No. 25)
17 of 34
Last Week:
28-14 win over the New England Patriots
21/30, 220 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
4 carries, 2 yards
This Season:
31/51, 294 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
6 carries, 7 yards
The Reaction:
Sunday's game may very well have been this season's coming-out party for Mark Sanchez.
The glamourous young quarterback beat the rival Patriots just six days after a disheartening beatdown at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.
Sanchez's three touchdown passes and 21 completions were both personal bests in his young career.
This could be a turning point for him. The Jets are hoping that this most recent week reflects the true caliber of Mark Sanchez rather than his 74-yard performance in Week 1.
No. 15: Chad Henne (Last Week: No. 16)
18 of 34
Last Week:
14-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings
9/15, 114 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions
2 carries, 0 yards
This Season:
30/49, 296 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions
4 carries, -1 yard
The Reaction:
Chad Henne really didn't do anything to warrant moving down in the rankings, but he has to because he really didn't do anything.
In this run-first, pass-second system of the Dolphins, Henne has been excellent. He's completed a high percentage of his passes, done what he needed to do, and minimized his mistakes and turnovers.
However, in a week where other quarterbacks made a lot of plays, he has to move down simply because he wasn't asked to make many.
Henne's best drive came after a Favre interception when he hit Brandon Marshall for 46 yards and Brian Hartline for a seven-yard touchdown.
No. 14: Donovan McNabb (Last Week: No. 17)
19 of 34
Last Week:
27-30 loss to the Houston Texans
28/38, 426 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions
This Season:
43/70, 597 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions
1 carry, 17 yards
The Reaction:
Donovan McNabb and Matt Schaub were on fire in the game between the Texans and the Redskins. For the first time since Drew Bledsoe and Dan Marino did so in September 1994, both starting quarterbacks threw for more than 400 yards.
This was a much-needed bounce-back showing for McNabb as he strives to earn the confidence and trust of the Redskins' faithful. Unfortunately for him though, he failed to get the win as his team lost in overtime.
He almost got the win though. McNabb led his team to the Texans' 34-yard line in overtime and watched from the sideline as Graham Gano made what appeared to be the game-winner. But Gary Kubiak had called a timeout right before the snap and Gano missed the retry.
McNabb also managed to throw for 101 yards on a single drive, a seemingly impossible feat made possible by a sack and a penalty.
He fared much better in this game and should continue to produce at a high level.
No. 13: Kyle Orton (Last Week: No. 22)
20 of 34
Last Week:
31-14 win over the Seattle Seahawks
25/35, 307 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
3 carries, -5 yards
This Season:
46/68, 602 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception
5 carries, 7 yards
The Reaction:
Kyle Orton had his second-straight efficient game, but this time it resulted in a big win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Orton threw for over 300 yards, had two touchdown passes, and benefited greatly from a new weapon.
Rookie wide receiver Demaryius Thomas suited up for the first time and caught eight passes for 97 yards and a touchdown from Orton. It's going to be scary to see what the duo can do once they play together more.
Orton may not be the flashiest name, but he does tend to get the job done.
No. 12: Josh Freeman (Last Week: No. 20)
21 of 34
Last Week:
20-7 win over the Carolina Panthers
12/24, 178 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
4 carries, 43 yards
This Season:
29/52, 350 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception
6 carries, 77 yards
The Reaction:
Josh Freeman had his second-straight quietly efficient victory in two weeks as he continues to march towards the title of "best quarterback who the vast majority of people don't know exists."
If he keeps playing like this, he's going to become a household name.
Freeman showed off the arm on his two touchdown passes and his legs on his 43-yard scramble. The scary thing is, he's still recovering from a broken thumb on his throwing hand.
Keep an eye on this kid.
No. 11: Michael Vick (Last Week: No. 10)
22 of 34
Last Week:
35-32 win over the Detroit Lions
21/34, 284 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
7 carries, 37 yards
This Season:
37/58, 459 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
18 carries, 140 yards
The Reaction:
The score of this game was much closer than it should have been because the Lions almost completed a dramatic 18-point comeback.
Once again, Vick played much like his old superstar self. He was efficient and showed off both his arms and his legs.
In fact his play was good enough for Andy Reid to name him the starter, despite waffling between Vick and Kevin Kolb.
No. 10: Matt Ryan (Last Week: No. 18)
23 of 34
Last Week:
41-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals
21/32, 225 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
6 carries, 6 yards
This Season:
48/76, 477 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception
8 carries, 10 yards
The Reaction:
This is more like the Matt Ryan we expected to see in this year's campaign. Ryan seemed to make every throw he needed to in a win against the Cardinals that wasn't even as close as the lopsided score seems to indicate.
The real story of this game was the emergence of Jason Snelling, but that covered up the re-emergence of Ryan after his sophomore slump.
Truthfully though, a much better test of his skills will come this next week against a fellow NFC South foe, the New Orleans Saints.
No. 9: Eli Manning (Last Week: No. 8)
24 of 34
Last Week:
14-38 loss to the Indianapolis Colts
13/24, 161 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception
1 carry, 6 yards
This Season:
33/54, 424 yard, 5 touchdowns, 4 interceptions
5 carries, 4 yards
The Reaction:
Eli just couldn't get much done against his big brother and the Indianapolis Colts.
The pass rush got to him all night and he never really got to make an easy throw. His decision making wasn't the greatest either.
In the first half, he launched a pass into triple coverage and watched as Jerraud Powers came away with an interception.
He won't always be facing teams this tough, but Eli will need to play better when he does.
No. 8: Tony Romo (Last Week: No. 6)
25 of 34
Last Week:
20-27 loss to the Chicago Bears
34/51, 374 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions
1 carry, -1 yard
This Season:
65/98, 656 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
1 carry, -1 yard
The Reaction:
It's never a good thing when your quarterback leads what was supposed to be a Super Bowl-contender to an 0-2 start. Yet that's exactly what Tony Romo has done.
Besides Miles Austin, Romo didn't really have a reliable target in the game. Austin did catch 10 passes for 142 yards though.
In fact, he only led the team to one offensive touchdown. The rest of the points came off of Dez Bryant's punt return for a touchdown and David Buehler's two field goals.
Tony Romo is considered an elite quarterback by many, but that's primarily because he puts up big numbers, plays for "America's Team," and dates celebrities.
At what point does winning start to matter?
No. 7: Jay Cutler (Last Week: No. 15)
26 of 34
Last Week:
27-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys
21/29, 277 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
5 carries, 3 yards
This Season:
44/64, 649 yards, 5 touchdowns, 1 interception
10 carries, 25 yards
The Reaction:
Jay Cutler is in the midst of a fantastic, albeit short, season. Using the new Mike Martz scheme, he's led his Bears to a surprising 2-0 record.
One of his most impressive plays came when he beat the blitz by finding wide-open tight end Greg Olsen for a 39-yard score.
But most impressively, the turnover-prone quarterback maintained possession for his team the entire game. He had 26 interceptions last season, the most in the league, and threw picks in all but four games.
If Cutler can keep the ball and keep performing at such a high level, we'll have no choice but to consider him one of the elite QBs in the league.
No. 6: Matt Schaub (Last Week: No. 11)
27 of 34
Last Week:
30-27 win over the Washington Redskins
38/52, 497 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception
1 carry, 2 yards
This Season:
47/69, 604 yards, 4 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
4 carries, -1 yard
The Reaction:
Schaub has to consider this day a disappointment because he ended up just three yards shy of 500. Don't worry, that's a joke.
The Texans' quarterback put up video-game numbers as he absolutely torched the Redskins' secondary in the overtime win.
But most important was the poise he showed late in the game as he led a comeback and then put Neil Rackers in position to win the game in overtime.
No. 5: Philip Rivers (Last Week: No. 5)
28 of 34
Last Week:
38-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars
22/29, 334 yards, 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
This Season:
44/68, 632 yards, 5 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
3 carries, 5 yards
The Reaction:
Rivers played quite well in this game against the Jaguars' weak secondary, but still did make two mistakes.
This was much better than his Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but there is still room for improvement because of the two picks.
Rest assured though, Rivers is still an elite quarterback.
No. 4: Tom Brady (Last Week: No. 2)
29 of 34
Last Week:
14-28 loss to the New York Jets
20/36, 248 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
This Season:
45/71, 506 yards, 5 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
The Reaction:
Tom Brady can't possibly be happy after being outplayed by the much more youthful Mark Sanchez. Yet outplayed is exactly the right word to describe Brady's performance compared to Sanchize's.
According to Brady: "We couldn't do anything in the second half. We had a hard time gaining yards. We didn't do anything on third down, we couldn't gain anything on first or second down. We couldn't run it. We couldn't throw it. We just (stunk). That's what it comes down to. It's going to be a long week, I can promise you that. We've got to get better in a lot of areas."
Brady is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and he is capable of winning games by himself, but even the best quarterbacks have their off days.
This was one of those for him and his stat line was still one that half the league would have been happy to have.
No. 3: Aaron Rodgers (Last Week: No. 4)
30 of 34
Last Week:
34-7 win over the Buffalo Bills
19/29, 255 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
5 carries, 20 yards, 1 touchdown
This Season:
38/60, 443 yards, 4 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
10 carries, 29 yards, 1 touchdown
The Reaction:
This is the quarterback we expected Aaron Rodgers to be. He was efficient and masterful against the Bills and showed that his team truly does have the potential to win the Super Bowl this season.
The worst thing about his performance, according to Rodgers, was his attempt at a Lambeau leap after his touchdown run: "The guys gave me a hard time on the sideline, but I told them, 'Look, I was tired.'"
Rodgers will face a much stiffer test next week when he goes up against Julius Peppers and the Chicago Bears.
No. 2: Peyton Manning (Last Week: No. 3)
31 of 34
Last Week:
38-14 win over the New York Giants
20/26, 255 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
3 carries, -3 yards
This Season:
60/83, 688 yards, 6 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
3 carries, -3 yards
The Reaction:
It was thanks to Peyton Manning that the Colts took Manning Bowl II.
The only way to describe this performance was by saying that Peyton Manning played like Peyton Manning.
When that happens, the Colts are pretty darn tough to beat.
No. 1: Drew Brees (Last Week: No. 1)
32 of 34
Last Week:
25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers
28/38, 254 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
This Season:
55/74, 491 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions
4 carries, -6 yards
The Reaction:
Another week leads to another win for the Saints and another week atop the totem pole of NFL quarterbacks for Drew Brees.
Brees was great in the Monday night victory over the 49ers.
He played well from start to finish as his night culminated in a 30-yard pass to Marques Colston to set up the game-winning field goal by Garrett Hartley.
It's tough to stop this guy. The thing that gave him the most trouble the entire night was when he had to ruffle up his hair to make sure it looked perfectly messed-up enough to go on camera.
