Fantasy Football R&D: Pittsburgh at Tennessee Fantasy Boxscore Breakdown

A JSep 19, 2010

TEN

Vince Young QB – (7 for 10, 66 yards, 2 Int’s)

Young looked uncomfortable for most of the snaps he was on the field as was evident by his 2 interceptions.  Fisher has already named Young the starter for next week, but you can’t feel good that he pulled Vince so early.  Pittsburgh was a nasty match-up.  He’ll have a better chance of success next week against the Giants.

Chris Johnson RB – (21 touches, 53 yards)

Mark this up to an off game as Johnson just didn’t have any room to run on the tough Steeler’s D.  Start him with confidence next week versus the Giant’s.  He’s too talented for anyone to hold him down long.

Justin Gage WR – (4 catches, 74 yards)

Gage was blanketed last week by Asomugha of the Raiders but used his size and speed this week and might be a sleeper if Collins ever takes over on a regular basis.  The 6’4 Missouri Tiger graduate has some hidden talent but this offense still runs through CJ and that means lots of runs for now.

Kenny Brit WR – (5 catches, 41 yards)

Tons of talent here but Kenny can’t seem find any consistency.  It doesn't help that he has had some issues with the coaching staff.  I’d consider him a WR5 at best right now.

Nate Washington WR – (4 catches, 34 yards, TD)

Nate is arguably the #1 WR to own in Tennessee.  He had 88 yards and a TD last week and snuck one in again in week 2.   Watch out for all these TEN receivers if Kerry Collins becomes the starting QB as he loves to throw the ball deep.

PIT

Mike Wallace WR – (2 catches, 25 yards)

Mike “60 minutes” Wallace is an absolute caged beast.  The problem is the key won’t be available for 4 more weeks.  When this guy sets foot on the field in week 6, with Big Ben throwing him the ball, he immediately becomes a stud WR2 with WR1 potential every week.  You need to trade for this guy now while he is seemingly worthless.

Hines Ward WR – (1 catch, 9 yards)

See above.  Ward is an automatic bench till week 6.

Rashard Mendenhall RB – (24 touches, 72 yards)

Mendenhall will be the main focus of the porous Steelers offense till week 6.  He can expect 8 and 9 man fronts every week unless someone steps up at QB.  Rashard is only an RB2 till after the bye.
