Milla's Tampa Bay Bucs Report: Week Two Preview

Jabber HeadSep 18, 2010

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) at Carolina Panthers (0-1)

Stats/Notes of Interest

The Bucs are 7-12 all time against the Panthers. Since becoming NFC South rivals in 2002, the Bucs are 5-11 against Carolina, which includes 2-6 at Bank of America Stadium. During the same time span, the Buccaneers are 18-15 against the rest of the division.

Josh Freeman has one career start against the Panthers. He threw for 321 yards but was picked off five times, and the Bucs lost 16-6.

Carolina QB Matt Moore has two career starts against Tampa Bay and won both games. In Week 17 of 2007, Moore threw for 174 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. In Week 13 last season, Moore threw for 161 yards and an interception.

Bucs RB Kareem Huggins has missed practice this week with a groin injury but is expected to be active on Sunday and could possibly get the first few touches of his NFL career. TE Kellen Winslow has sat out practice the last two days and is considered questionable for Sunday's game. Panthers QB Matt Moore suffered a concussion in last week's lost to the Giants but is considered probable.

Fantasy Impact

Be careful with Kellen Winslow. Head coach Raheem Morris called him questionable for Sunday's game, and even if Winslow does play, blocking specialist John Gilmore will see more time on the field as well.

DeAngelo Williams has torched the Buccaneers in the past; he is a must start. Jonathan Stewart should be worth a RB2 start.

Milla's Key to the Games

For the Bucs to win they must...keep the Panthers running game under control. Ever since a Monday night disaster in 2008, the Bucs have been DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart's favorite opponent. The Bucs must keep Carolina's running game from going off and put pressure on Matt Moore to win the game.

For the Panthers to win they must...force turnovers. Last time these two teams met, the Panthers gave up over 500 yards of offense but forced five turnovers. Carolina needs to force Josh Freeman to make mistakes.

Prediction

I expect a low scoring game. Two inexperienced QBs going against each other. But I'm feeling a little confident; I'll go out and say the Bucs pull it out late, 20-17.
