College Football Week 3: Flynn's 15 Fearless Picks

Hello there friends,

I’m writing this picks package with a heavy heart tonight. My good friend, Steve Dominguez, who happened to be one of the finest gambling minds I’ve ever come across in my 22 years on this planet, sadly passed away last night.

As I sat by Steve’s beds at the hospital a few days ago, struggling to hear him speak in his weakened state, he managed to communicate one last little message to me in a severely raspy voice.

Steve said - Danny, never let them see you down.

I thought about this for a few seconds as I looked at this once super strong individual now reduced to a near full paralysis as a result of a serious fall and I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around what he was trying to say.

Then after some contemplation, it hit me - Steve was trying to convey the message that even when you’re at your weakest point in life, which Steve undoubtedly was at the time, always feel strong and portray strength.

Right now, I couldn’t think of a more needed idea and philosophy for my 2010 college football picks than what Steve was trying to say.

We’ve had a roller coaster of a first two weekends, but the third week mark is usually when the good gambling minds hit their stride. The season’s quarter turn pole which we’ll soon be approaching is the spot where the good horses separate from the weak ones. 

So let’s see if the picks have the legs to make it the distance.

These picks are dedicated to Steve and his loving family. I hope that wherever Steve is right now, he gets to sit on a couch, pop open a cold one, and watch some great football action from the upper deck seats.
