Andrei Arlovski Will Make K-1 Debut in Seoul, South Korea on Oct. 2

Dale De SouzaSep 17, 2010

Andrei Arlovski will look to become a "jack of all trades" this October.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has gone through Mixed Martial Arts and even the boxing world in his professional fighting career, but he hasn't decided to stop with Scott Coker and the Showtime-affiliated Strikeforce brand of Mixed Martial Arts.

As per a formal agreement between Coker and Keiichi Sasahara, Strikeforce fighters were allowed to fight on DREAM-branded fight cards and DREAM-contracted fighters were allowed to fight on Strikeforce cards—hence, the Shinya Aoki-Gilbert Melendez fight in Nashville, and the Nick Diaz-Marius Zaromskis Welterweight Title Match in Miami.

Thanks to Coker and Strikeforce's healthy longstanding relationship with FEG, the same could have gone for Strikeforce fighters who could meet the weight limit for K-1 Tournaments, and so far the only man able to do so and also have success in K-1 has been Strikeforce Heavyweight CHampion Alistair Overeem.

Not anymore.

Despite a recent saga with FEG stemming from a fight that was apparently supposed to happen in DREAM awhile back,  Arlovski will be competing at the K-1 World Grand Prix Final 16 in Seoul, South Korea on Oct. 2.

Bloody Elbow reports that it was confirmed by Michael Schiavello via The Voice's Twitter account that Arlovski will be fighting at the event, which will be broadcasted on HDNet.

During a recent King of the Cage event, Schiavello also confirmed that Arlovksi's bout would not be a tournament bout of any sort, but instead a superfight against a yet-to-be-named opponent at the event.

While we don't know who the opponent is or what kind of standup prowess he possesses, we can definitely rest assured that the ruthlessness of Arlovski's standup will be highlighted in about that could prove to be one of the event's most exciting Heavyweight standup wars.
