Video: The Most Bizarre Athlete Fainting Moments of All Time

Tom KinslowSep 17, 2010

With athletes, sometimes weird things happen. They're looked at as models of fitness, but sometimes, health issues do arise and sometimes, these athletes faint.

Plenty of athletes have fainted and some of the incidents have happened on the court and have been pretty weird to say the least. Here are the 10 most bizarre incidents of an athlete fainting.

No. 10: Mike Krzyzewski

1 of 10

Here's Coach K during a timeout complaining, as he always does about a call that an official made during the game.

Then he sort of just fell over and got right back up. As bizarre as that is, is it really more bizarre than him wearing sneakers with a suit? C'mon son. Get yourself some nicer shoes than that.

No. 9 Victoria Azarenka

2 of 10

The most recent entry on this list comes from this year's US Open where Victoria Azarenka made a play on the ball and then just passed out on the court.

Azarenka was diagnosed with a concussion after she was taken to the hospital for tests.

No. 8: Allan Cheney

Chaney's incident with fainting came after his transfer from Florida to Virginia Tech.

Chaney was doing an individual workout with the Hokies when he passed out. The forward was given CPR and was taken to the hospital but was diagnosed with nothing more than a case of extreme dehydration.

No. 7: Bafetimbi Gomis

4 of 10

While training with the French national team, Bafetimbi Gomis passed out and had to be helped off the field by medical staff.

Gomis then returned to the field 15 minutes later, which is just amazing. The most bizarre thing though, was that the incident was the third time Gomis had passed out on the field.

No. 6: Justin Koschitzke

5 of 10

While recovering from a fractured skull, Justin Koschitzke collapsed during a television interview and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Koschitzke was found to be okay after a battery of tests. A good sign after the way he was talking. That was scary to say the least.

No. 5: Three Teen Synchoronized Swimmers

6 of 10

It's strange enough when one person randomly faints, but when three girls all faint at the same time, it's something that's really bizarre.

The girls passed out in the pool but were all rescued and turned out okay which is a relief.

No. 4: Dan Cody

7 of 10

Dan Cody was just trying to fire his team up before a big game and after the huddle, Cody fell to the ground and had to be helped up.

Cody still played in the game but had to actually be taken out of the game because he was woozy. That's some pretty bad negligence on the case of the Sooners' medical staff.

No. 3: Rodney Stuckey

8 of 10

In a game against Cleveland this past spring, Rodney Stuckey went to the bench for a timeout like normal.

That's when things got weird.

Stuckey fainted and then had a seizure on the bench and had to leave the court in a stretcher to go to the hospital. The Pistons guard eventually returned to the team after being cleared to play.

No. 2: Du Feng

9 of 10

When Du Feng decided it was a wise idea to headbutt Charles Gaines, it was probably the biggest mistake he made.

Gaines promptly caught him with a right jab and floored him, causing him to pass out. If I were his teammate, I probably would have been teasing him about that for a long, long time.

No. 1: Carmelo Anthony

10 of 10

In a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Carmelo Anthony tried to make a move on Kevin Durant and ran into him, falling down and getting called for a travel.

Except, Anthony didn't get up. He stayed down on the court but the referees thought he was playing possum so they continued play and Denver and Oklahoma City continued to play with Anthony still on the floor and at one point played around him.

If that isn't weird, then I don't know what is. Anthony was fine and continued to play after the incident.
