New England Patriots vs New York Jets: Spotlight On Randy Moss vs Darrelle Revis

Sunday, September 19th has been circled on everyone's calender every since the NFL schedule was released. It is the first match-up of the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. Not one circle was written more bold on their calenders than New England's wide receiver Randy Moss and New York's corner backer Darrelle Revis. 

As a new chapter was created last season in the Pats, Jets rivalry with the arrival of New York head coach Rex Ryan, along came a new rivalry: Moss vs. Revis. 

Ever since week two of the 2009 season, when Darrelle Revis was matched up against Randy Moss, the two have been each others' enemy. 

In the first match-up between these foes, Revis had the edge. Revis shut down Moss to only four receptions for 24 yards in the Jets 16-9. 

The loss came in a week when New England was without slot receiver Wes Welker. So, Moss had to play a little bit of a different role. The new role, might of had an effect of Moss' production, but Revis had a blanket on Moss throughout the game. 

There was no surprise that Moss was frustrated, and almost embarrassed that a corner back shut him down. From that point on, Moss had something to prove. 

While the struggles of Moss and dominance of Revis in week two, Moss came out strong in their second match-up. 

During the team's week eleven match-up, Moss caught five passes for 34 yards and a touch down. Moss seemed to have Revis' number that game, while he was out to prove himself as still being an elite receiver. 

The Patriots were so determined to "show" Rex Ryan, Revis, and the Jets up, they attempted to throw deep passes to Moss, while the game was already in hand late in the fourth quarter. 

Now it is 2010, and the Pats and Jets square off for the first time this season at the New Meadowlands Stadium. 

The Jets' have had so much hype this off-season due from big-mouth Rex Ryan, and the HBO Series Hard Knocks. 

Once again, it will be Moss vs. Revis.

The New England Patriots (1-0) and the New York Jets (0-1) will square off this up-coming Sunday at 4:15 on CBS.
