Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons and Other Big NFL Week 2 Games

Chad MiddletonSep 17, 2010

The Arizona Cardinals (1-0) take their second consecutive road trip, but this time a little further east. They travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons (0-1) Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

That undefeated record of the Cardinals should really have an asterisk by it. They looked pretty rough for 75 percent of the game and were painstakingly close to losing to the lowly St. Louis Rams. Derek Anderson looked rickety in his performance but did just enough to win. Or the Rams did just enough to lose.

So, Cardinal nation has to be worried. Will Derek Anderson and Larry Fitzgerald begin connecting this week? Will Tim Hightower learn how NOT to fumble? Will Beanie Wells play? Can LaRod Stephens-Howling get more playing time to showcase his talents?

This game is going to be tough for the Cardinals because they meet an angry Falcons team who played their hearts out only to lose to the Steelers in overtime, 15-9. Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense looked pretty inept, but it can be that the Steelers defense has returned to Super Bowl form.

The practices this week in Arizona included Stephen Williams filling in as the third string receiver. This may be a good thing after the strong preseason he had, but this may be a sign that Larry is hurt more than he leads on.

Yet Matt Ryan doesn't look quite in sync yet either. I'm calling an upset. Arizona 23 Atlanta 21

And now for the rest of the league.

Green Bay 35 Buffalo 14

It's not gonna be pretty. Aaron Rodgers will work out all the kinks against a suspect secondary.

Minnesota 24 Miami 10

Wildcat, meet Vikings defense. Now let me get this correct for all you guys out here. I think Miami is a tough team. And had this game been in Miami, I would probably reverse the score but Brett Favre and the Vikings need this game. If the Vikings go 0-2, there will be panic in Minnesota.

Kansas City 17 Cleveland 14

I hear Yo Gabba Gabba is a good show for the kids. Definitely better than this mess.

Dallas 28 Chicago 12

Mike Martz's offense wont have time to get Cutler in a rhythm because Dallas and that front four will be all over them. This is the weekend that Romo gets his offense to read from the same page. Maybe Jason Garrett should go to church more and see what it feels like to kneel.

Carolina 28 Tampa Bay 17

I'm not overly impressed with what I saw from Tampa Bay last week. You beat Cleveland. I can get 11 guys in the neighborhood and do the same. But I think that may be your only victory this year. I hope not because I like your coach and young core players. But you won't find solace from an angry Panther team who was trounced in the Meadowlands.

Philadelphia 30 Detroit 13

Enter the Vick era. I predict some decent stats from him this week. Detroit has to get passed that tough loss last week. I don't see it this week.

Baltimore 17 Cincinnati 9

Ray Lewis has a memory like an elephant (see last week's game) He also remembers that the Bengals swept the Ravens last year. Don't expect the same this year. That Ravens defense looks focused.

Tennessee 17 Pittsburgh 13

To me, this is the toughest game of the week. Pittsburgh look so good last week on defense. Troy looked like old Troy. But Vince Young has matured, and Chris Johnson, wel,l he's Chris Johnson. Ultimately, Vince will outduel Dennis.

Denver 20 Seattle 17

Denver should not have lost last week. Seattle should not have won. Something has to give. Denver is tough at home.

St. Louis 21 Oakland 13

Sam Bradford will get his first NFL victory. Nobody will see it. I'll wait for the highlights.

Houston 20 Washington 16

I think Arian Foster will come back to earth this week but Andre Johnson will rise. I think this makes for a good battle to watch. Both came off much needed victories against their nemesis.

New England 35 New York Jets 10

Randy Moss doesn't like being called a slouch. And it's awfully convenient—I mean, coincidental—that Revis has an injury. Mark Sanchez will get buried in this game. And Randy Moss will have a great game. Remember when the no-name safety for the Steelers disrespected the Patriots a couple of years ago? Where's that guy now? Better yet, what's his name?

Jacksonville 27 San Diego 23

Upset alert. I don't like what San Diego has going on offensively. Jacksonville seemed locked in last week. Mo Jo Drew said that people should not sleep on the Jaguars this year. Maybe, he is right. This week, I think he is.

Indianapolis 31 New York Giants 28

Spoiler alert: A Manning will win this game.

New Orleans 35 San Francisco 16

Mike Singletary thanked Pete Carroll for the beating Seattle administered last week. He should have thanked me for calling that whipping in advance. Maybe he will this week. Never fear folks. This one will be over before NBC's new series "The Chase" starts.
