I Volunteer Florida Will Lose This Saturday In Macho Rhino's Week 3 Picks

Macho RhinoSep 16, 2010

College football is back with week 3 starting tonight with some good games. This weekend doesn’t have near the intrigue last weekend did but has a few games that should be entertaining. I’m 43-7 so far on the season and go out on a limb with a couple of upset picks this week. Check out my selections below.

1. Alabama at Duke – Bama welcomes Mark Ingram back to the huddle after injury and this should be a nice game for him. Duke’s just out of their league in this game. Alabama 41, Duke 7
2. Ohio State vs. Ohio – The battle of Ohio should see a crushing defeat for the Bobcats. They will have no answer for Terrelle Pryor. Their only hope is that the Buckeyes come out a little flat after the big game last week. Ohio State 38, Ohio 10
3. Boise State at Wyoming – The Broncos have to be out for style points this week to show they’re still a contender for the national title. Not a good week for Wyoming. Boise State 42, Wyoming 7
4. Iowa at 25. Arizona – This is the toughest game of the day to predict. I really like what I’ve seen from Iowa and Arizona looks like it might have Mike Stoops’ best team there. Nick Foles is going to go up against a stingy defense like he did against Nebraska last season in the Holiday Bowl. He’s got to hope for a better performance. Ricky Stanzy will stay steady for the Hawkeyes to win a hard fought road win. Iowa 13, Arizona 10
5. Texas at Texas Tech – A big test for Tommy Tuberville as he’s welcomed to Big XII play by the Longhorns. Tech will stay in this game but won’t be able to overtake the Horns. Texas 27, Texas Tech 21
6. TCU vs. Baylor – Robert Griffin will be a test for the TCU defense but Baylor’s D won’t be able to stop the Horned Frogs’ offense enough times to win. TCU 35, Baylor 21
7. Oklahoma vs. 22. Air ForceOklahoma 38, Air Force 21
8. Oregon vs. Portland State – Wow this could get really ugly. Oregon was up 59-0 at the half in their home opener. Now they return home for a FCS team. Oregon 66, Portland State 0
9. Florida at Tennessee – The loss of Chris Rainey is huge. I think it combined with the struggles of the Florida offense gives this a lot of upset potential. Derek Dooley gets win #1 in the SEC. Tennessee 24, Florida 21
10. Miami Idle
11. Nebraska at Washington – Washington is a tough place to play but Nebraska hopes freshman QB Taylor Martinez can handle it. He’s been a dynamic playmaker so far but his team takes a step up in competition this week. Jake Locker will find a way to get a big win for the Huskies. Washington 21, Nebraska 17
12. Wisconsin vs. Arizona State – Former Michigan QB Steven Threatt returns to the Big 10 as the signal caller for the Sun Devils. I think they’re going to have a tough time matching the huge offensive line of Wisconsin and the early start time. Look for a big running day from the Badgers. Wisconsin 35, ASU 14
13. Auburn vs. Clemson – The ACC needs Clemson to have a strong showing this week. If they get blown out, it’ll just be another blow to a conference that’s been battered already early in the season. Cam Newton will be too much for them. Auburn 27, Clemson 17
14. Arkansas at Georgia – Georgia needs A.J. Green back. If they had him my pick would change but I think Ryan Mallett leads his Hog offense to victory. Arkansas 38, Georgia 30
15. Utah at New Mexico – The Lobos are terrible and will get blown out again this week. Utah 45, New Mexico 10
16. Oregon St. vs. Louisville – the Rogers brothers should make some big plays against the visiting Cardinals and give the Beavers a comfortable win.Oregon State 31, Louisville 14
17. LSU vs. Mississippi State – A 2-0 start for the LSU Tigers in the SEC will be a confidence booster but they’ve got to show up ready to play.LSU 27, Mississippi State 14
18. Pittsburgh Idle
19. West Virginia vs. Maryland – Both teams have strong running games but the Mountaineers ability to make plays down the field in the passing game will be the difference.West Virginia 28, Maryland 17
20. Michigan vs. Massachusetts – I wonder if the UMass defense has slept this week wondering how they would stop Denard Robinson. Michigan 42, Massachusetts 10
21. South Carolina vs. Furman – South Carolina should cruise this week. South Carolina 38, Furman 13
23. Stanford vs. Wake Forest – Stanford has looked good so far and that’s not good for the Demon Deacons. Wake will have to get a better defensive performance this week to just stay competitive. Andrew Luck will have a big game.  Stanford 34, Wake Forest 17
24. Penn State vs. Kent State – I think Kent State keeps this one competitive but can’t match the athletes of the Nittany Lions. Penn State 31, Kent State 21

This week’s 3 bonus picks:
California at Nevada – Nevada has one of the best running games in the country. Cal has been great so far outscoring their first two opponents by over 90 points combined. California 31, Nevada 27
BYU at Florida State – It’ll be interesting to see how Florida State responds after the demolition Oklahoma gave them last week. BYU will be out to avenge the beating they took at home last year from the Noles. Christian Ponder gets his team back on the winning track. FSU 30, BYU 24
Houston at UCLA – It’s never good when your coach apologizes for your poor play after a game. Does that motivate the Bruins this week? You’ve got to be able to score against Houston to win and I don’t think UCLA has the offense to keep up. Houston 35, UCLA 20
