Mourinho Dream Team A Bit Of A Surprise

Andrew McNairAug 10, 2008

Over the last few weeks, our very own Salaar Shamsi asked the Bleacher Community for their opinions on who were the best English Premier League players in each position.

I figured I'd let you know what the new Inter Milan coach, Jose Mouriinho would make of it all. The former Chelsea coach has picked his own fantasy eleven.

In goal he chose Reina over his beloved Petr Cech from Chelsea. Maybe it was the Czech's Euro 2008 blunder that changed his opinion!

At right back "the special one" chose Scotland and Tottenham Hotspurs Alan Hutton. The right back whoย signed for ยฃ9 million in January will be hoping to impress in his first full season. He's already chased out Pascal Chimbonda.

Mourinho stuck with Spurs for his left back and chose the young Welshman, Gareth Bale. I hope the youngster can have an injury free season and we see the best of him.

There was another big surprise at centre back where William Gallas and Ricardo Carvalho kept Chelsea Captain John Terry out the line up. Who says there wasn't a bust up?

More shocks in midfield where Steven Gerrard got the nod over Frank Lampard!

Maybe it was because Jose was hoping the Chelsea man would have been an Inter man by now?

Michael Essien joins Gerrard in the centre of midfield but I'm more than surprised by his choice of wide players.

Morten Gamst Pederson, when on form, is a formidable player, but he hasn't been on form since 06/07 in my eyes. Diarra on the right wing wouldn't be my choice either.

Up front, the choice of Fernando Torres won't raise many eyebrows but what, Jermaine Defoe?

The Portsmouth striker was on fire late last season and I must admit he's in my fantasy team.

So these are the "special" choices that I doubt many of us will agree on.

What do you think? Is old Jose pulling a fast one?
