Oakland Raiders Must Slam Dunk the St. Louis Rams to Get Out of a Jam

Honor Warren Wells TheTorchSep 15, 2010

Good decisions were made entering the 2010 season. For example, a new quarterback was chosen, and players like Rolando McClain was added to the team. Things were looking good for the Raiders, and they can continue to look good if more decisions are made to transform the team from a loser to a winner.

Based on the reactions of many fans and naysayers, the Raiders are looking no better in the early stages of the 2010 season than they looked in 2009. It just may be too soon to tell.

A 3-2-1 sequence of wins for 2007, 2008, and 2009 for the Rams is compared to a 4-5-5- win record for the Oakland Raiders during those same years. That data seems to indicate that the Oakland Raiders ought to be a better team than the Rams. Yet in reality there are so many other variables and circumstances to weigh in.

In order to gain the confidence of the Raider Nation and to get more people to spend money and come to the stadium to see the Raiders play, a change has got to overcome the Raiders and an outstanding performance is expected in the second game of the regular season.

It may be difficult to play when the chips seem to be down. Nevertheless, these young, strong, talented men on the Raiders team have got to take hold and control of the situation to avoid further belittlement and bashing.

Some of us are from a generation that believes the more you push and press us down, the higher we bounce up with passion and determination. Is this generation of Oakland Raiders partakers in this belief and behavioral response system or what?

Are the 2010 Oakland Raiders aggressive risk-takers or are they doing things to merely safeguard their jobs?

Last year it took the entire season to realize that there were too many flaws in the strategies and attitudes of some of the Oakland Raiders. This year, it seems unreasonable to wait too long before changes are made,

Failing to correct the problems in the O-line and other areas are almost like the problems of a debilitating disease. If something is not done, it could be life-threatening to the franchise, many believe.

So hear a wake up call and get busy and aggressively fix the situation.

We know the talent is there. We know the football intelligence is there. So the synergy and ability to work the plan, together, needs to "gel" and become executable.

Go Raiders! Use this definition:

slam dunk: Definition from Answers.com "make a forceful move against someone," as in This is a great chance for us to slam-dunk the opposition.

Conclusion

The Oakland Raiders must slam-dunk the Rams in order to get the franchise out of this jam.

For emphasis, let us repeat: Go Raiders!
