Oakland Raiders: Tim Brown or Cris Carter More Worthy For Hall of Fame?
A handful of Raiders are once again eligible for the next Hall of Fame induction. We all know the names. Plunkett, Flores, and Branch to name a few that have been waiting. One guy that shouldn't have to wait any longer is Tim Brown. He was a class act. He represented the Raiders and the NFL the way you are supposed to as an NFL player.
A recent article said that Tim Brown will not get in because Cris Carter is also on the ballot and he will get in before Brown because he's been waiting a year longer. I disagree with that assumption. Lets take a look at their career numbers, shall we.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
TIM BROWN IN 17 SEASONS
1,094 REC, 14,934 REC YDS, 100 REC TD, 3 PNT RET TD, 1 KICK RET TD, 1 RUSH TD, 3,320 PUNT RET YDS, AND 1,235 KICK RET YDS
CHRIS CARTER IN 16 SEASONS
1,101 REC, 13,899 REC YDS, 130 REC TD, 244 KICK RET YDS
From a numbers standpoint, no question, both are Hall of Fame worthy. When it comes to receiving numbers, Chris Carter's 130 TDs to Brown's 105 TDs stands out. Tim had over 1,000 more yards despite less 6 less catches. Tim Brown's resume is also a bit more decorated with his numbers in the return game. You can argue in either ones favor on this one.
You also have to factor in the QBs that each WR had during their career. Tim Brown played with less talented QBs making his numbers that much more impressive. Brown had J. Shroeder, Todd Maronovich, Jeff George, and Vince Evans. It wasn't until he had Rich Gannon for a few seasons that he got to play with a top level QB.
Chris Carter had Randall Cunningham, Brad Johnson (in his good years), and a young Daunte Culpepper throwing him the ball for the most part of his career. He also had better supporting casts with guys like Randy Moss on the other side attracting all the attention.
I hate to bring it up but Chris Carter also had off the field issues where as Tim Brown was a class act and you never heard anything negative associated with his name.
If I had a vote, you know who would get mines. Who would you vote for?
I hope Tim Brown doesn't get burned like all the other Raiders who are still waiting.
