If you thought Chael Sonnen would quiet down the chatter after tapping out for the 8th time in his career after his UFC 117 loss to Middleweight champion Anderson Silva; you were wrong, and it's far from over.
He kept his eyebrow-raising trash talking train rolling on Tuesday as he hosted a Q&A before Tuesday's UFC Fight Night 22 weigh-ins.
Chael continued his belittling of Anderson Silva while adding every UFC champion to the list outside of Frankie Edgar.
"GSP had better pray to heaven above that 'Shogun' accepts my challenge because one of those two is getting beat up." Sonnen said, seemingly eager to face either champion.
"If GSP said he wanted to fight me, the first thing I would say is the same thing I say every time I hear GSP talk: 'Dang it that guy sounds like a French-Canadian Minnie Mouse,'" Sonnen said. "That's the first thing I'd say. Then I'd say, 'Hey, GSP, let me ask you a serious question: do you have a designated driver? Do you have someone to get you home safely? Because clearly you are intoxicated... GSP, do you have a hankering for pain? GSP, did you lose a bet with God? GSP, bring your $3,000 suit, bring your $3 date and get the three-cent tan knocked off your socialist back. If you see GSP, give him that message for me."
And the Middleweight #1 contender wasn't done yet, as Brock Lesnar's name was mentioned, Sonnen once again unloaded some of his trash talk:
"If Brock Lesnar was here right now, I'd take my boot off and throw it at him, and he'd better polish it up before he brings it back to me," Sonnen said. Talking about he's the baddest guy in the UFC? Brock, quit eating so many raw eggs and doing push-ups because it's affecting your realm of reality. Are you kidding me? I'd slap you in your face, and you wouldn't do anything."
"Oh but I'm Brock Lesnar. I've got this $5 haircut and a knife tattooed on my chest.' I'll shove it up your face if you get in Chael Sonnen's way."
In the mean time while he was sending shots at other fighters he still has Anderson Silva fresh in his sights, even though he was thrilling in defeat he still believes he is the better fighter and he pulled no punches about it during the Q&A:
"This rematch is going to be him getting beat up for 25 minutes or until he gives up," Sonnen said. "I think Silva is a great fighter, but he's not as good as me. He's not as good as Yushin Okami, either. He's not the best guy in the world, and he never has been. He's a sham."
If you thought Chael was done there, he was far from it, he then began to recite a poem that he had written himself for the Champion to hear:
"Anderson, think it through.
There's still a few months before they lock the cage door behind me and you.
Last time, they raised your hand, but it was plain to see
I took a lot more out of you than you took out of me.
I broke the mirror, and I blew away the smoke.
It was me who tapped, but it was you who broke."
I'm sure a lot of people are Chael'd out after all the trash talk leading up to his UFC 117 bout with Anderson Silva but these latest comments are not only funny and insane, but very much Chael. Whether he really believes that he could beat GSP (who is a better wrestler and striker) or Shogun (who is most defiantly a better striker and excels in submissions off his back) is one thing, but to call out and attack the Heavyweight Champion is most defiantly another. This assures me that this guy either A.) has a screw loose or B.) Just can't put a microphone down because this is the first and possibly only time in his career that he is of some relevance.
Either way However you want to look at it this guy can definitely promote a fight. Not only myself but many others are eagerly awaiting this rematch and will tune in to see if the cream will continue to rise to the top or the "better fighter" will loose again.
