No. 12 Miami Hurricanes Lose To No. 2 Ohio State and Now They're Overrated?

Bleacher ReportSep 14, 2010

Although I am a die hard Hurricanes fan I have no problem bashing on my own team.

I will flat out tell you if the Miami Hurricanes are a bad team or good team.

Apparently fans across the nation have no sense of what really just happened?

The Hurricanes were ranked #12 for a reason.

There were question marks and some of them were answered last Saturday against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

My problem is everyone is talking about how Miami got killed against the #2 team in the country and how the Hurricanes are now over rated?

Last time I checked, #12 was supposed to lose to the #2 team.

It would have been an upset if Miami would have won, right?

I was wrong again according to someone who stated this, "Miami got spanked and showed the country how great the Buckeyes were and how bad Miami really is!!"

Let me break it down like this.

The Buckeyes turned four Miami turnovers into 24 points, Miami lost by 12. The Buckeyes didn't turn over the ball once.

The Buckeyes had 414 total yards, to Miamis 351 yards. Time of possession was 31 minutes to 28 minutes.

If that is dominating a football game, I would hate to see what barely winning was.

What a lot of people aren't understanding is this.

Miami is still young.

Miami's offense only starts three seniors. The defense starts five seniors, but on both sides of the ball,  the true depth is sophomores and juniors.

If the Hurricanes and Buckeyes game showed me anything, its how over rated the Buckeyes offense was.

Five field goals, showing the inability to score a touchdown?

Terrelle Pryor not being able to throw a ten yard slant?

Only beating the #12 team in the country by 12 points, even though you created four turnovers, in which three of them allowed the Buckeyes to start inside the Miami 40 yard line.

Being at home with 105,000 screaming fans, and still winning by only 12?

So as you can see, it was hardly blow out.  It was a Buckeyes win and they deserved it, no doubt.

But to say a #12 ranked team is over rated now, because they lost to the #2 team on the road is ridiculous.
