UEFA Champions League: Werder Bremen V Tottenham, Zilina V Chelsea, Barcelona

Sports Betting ReviewSep 13, 2010

More great UEFA Champions League football matches in store for us tonight and tomorrow night, and here are our predictions for some of the upcoming matches.

Tottenham vs Werder Bremen - 14th September, 2010, Weserstadion.

It hasn't been the best of weeks for Tottenham Hotspur and manager Harry Redknapp. A late goal conceded against Wigan sunk Spurs to a shock 1-0 loss, and this was followed by a somewhat mediocre draw against West Brom this weekend.

To make matters worse, England international's Jermain Defoe and Michael Dawson will both face lengthy lay-offs due to injury, meaning that Redknapp will be without some of his major players for the important upcoming fixtures.

Luckily for Spurs, all is not lost. Luka Modric was not seriously injured after a serious injury of his leg was suspected on the weekend, and the Croatian should play tonight against Werder Bremen. Also, new signing Rafael van der Vaart showed a lot of promise in his debut for Tottenham, and the London side will need to rely on the Dutch man's magic if they are to progress to the latter stages of this tournament.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, a win here on German soil doesn't look too likely. With the likes of Torsten Frings and Tim Borowski in the Werder side, Bremen should prove too much for a Tottenham side inexperienced at this level.

Prediction: Werder Bremen to win by 1 or 2 goals.

Chelsea vs Zilina - Wednesday 15th September 2010, Stadium Pod Dubňom.

The Blues have been on fire this season, with the only blemish to their record coming in a pre-season loss to Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Since then, the West Londoners have not looked back, brushing aside teams with ease and setting themselves up as one of the genuine contenders for both the Premier League and Champions League titles.

A trip to Slovakia against unknown side MSK Zilina may prove to be a slightly tricky encounter for Chelsea. The small side recorded an incredible win over Sparta Prague to reach this stage, and they will want to ensure that they at least put up a fight in the group stages.

However, being one of the best sides in the world, Chelsea shouldn't have too much trouble putting victory away here, and continuing their fine form.

Prediction: Chelsea to win by at least two goals.

Barcelona vs Panathinaikos - Tuesday 14th September 2010, Nou Camp.

The season started so promisingly for Pep Guardiola's Barca side. A stunning comeback against Sevilla to win the Spanish Super Cup was followed by an impressive opening day win. New signing and Spanish international striker David Villa appeared to slot seamlessly into the Barcelona side, and things were looking up and up for the Catalonians.

Then, a shock 2-0 loss at home to newly promoted side Hercules in the La Liga may have rocked Barca to their core.

With a difficult match against Atletico Madrid coming up on the weekend, Barcelona will want to put their unexpected defeat quickly behind them and return to winning ways against Greek Side Panathinaikos tonight.

With the star-studded likes of Lionel Messi, David Villa, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, and co at the Barca helm, it's hard to see the La Liga champions staying down for long. Expect them to bounce back quickly with a convincing win tonight.

Prediction: Barcelona to win by at least two goals.
