Dirt Sheet Duo: Night Of Champions Golden Opportunities For Miz/Jomo?
The distant memory of what can be called the era of John Morrison & The Miz has been destroyed for quite some time. Arguably the best tag team of the last decade, Miz & Jomo parted ways abruptly after the WWE Draft last year. The Tag Team landscape hasn't been the same since. Neither has the two men who controlled it.
These Superstars have strayed in two totally different ways.
The Miz
What can be said bad about the guy right now? Yeah he needs a little improvement here and there but the guys been on one hell of a role lately. After being fired last year, he returned the next week as the Calgary Kid. Debuting a new finisher and ring attire.
He continued his change, pursuing the U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston countless times. Finally winning the title after a pretty decent RAW match. We all were witnessing The Miz getting bigger & better every week.
Snags a partner in the Big Show, defeats DX for the Unified Tag Team Titles. Rarely defends the U.S. Title but seems like just a prop to this rising star. Numerous successful Title defenses by Show Miz, even at the Grandest Stage of them all. Somehow gets into feud with the returning Bret Hart.
Mouth writes checks his butt can't cash. Get's beaten by Hart Dynasty for the Unified Tag Titles. Ending their reign at a mere 77 days. Get's knocked out by the Big Show. Ouch. Around the same time he is mentoring Bryan Danielson on NXT. Feuding costs him as Bryan interferes in many of his matches.
Guy reclaims his U.S. Title from mid carder for life R-Truth. He is looking bigger & bigger every week eh? Gets in to a Mitb match at the new ppv. With no one predicting he would win (besides myself). Miz knocks Randy Orton off the ladder, climbs up grabs his sure fire ticket to the top of the WWE.
Teases a cash in a few times, stopped on most. By this time his mic ability is up to par with some of the best. Now he's in a feud with the Best Wrestler in the World in Daniel Bryan. Defending his U.S. Title against him at Night Of Champions.
John Morrison
Predicted to climb to the heights of the WWE, while his ex associate is predicted to get released. Morrison officially moves to Smackdown! Enters a feud with Shelton Benjamin. Get's the better of the Gold Standard. Around the same time defends Teddy Long against Chris Jericho. Brawl ensues, it's official John Morrison is now a face.
Strays on Smackdown! for a few months. Has some interesting matches with Edge & Umaga before he reignites his feud with CM Punk. Punk being the World Champion at the time, loses to this guy two times in a row! Teddy Long takes notice, eventually gives him a World Title match on Smackdown!
Has one of the best matches in 2010 with Jeff Hardy. Even kicks out of Hardy's signature Swanton Bomb. Ultimately loses but the future looks bright for Morrison. Challenges Rey Mysterio to a match for the Intercontinental Title. Five Star Match. A slip up by Rey Mysterio and one Starship Pain later.
We have a new Intercontinental Title. Well he has a problem. Dolph Ziggler was the number one contender at the time. Like Mysterio, he defeats Ziggler numerous times. More Five Star matches by John Morrison. Things the turn bad for him.
He faces his former partner at Bragging Rights. They put on a decent match before he misses the Starship Pain. One two three later The Miz shocks us again. Next month at Survivor Series he falls again to The Miz's team. Being dominated by Sheamus,
Drew McIntyre defeats him in a match on Smackdown! Things are looking worse for this guy. He loses the Intercontinental title to him. Loses another rematch on Smackdown!
John Morrison disappears from the Smackdown! scene before besting McIntyre and Kane in one hell of a triple threat. Get's in the Elimination Chamber. Going in, most IWC thought it would the beginning of the John Morrison era. Not.
Another Great showing by John Morrison but is eliminated by the Phenom.
Things just go way downhill from there. He teams with R Truth. Challenges Show Miz to a match at Wrestlemania. Basically a squash match. Suffers an ankle injury.
Get's drafted to RAW. Good right? Nope. Wins one match against Dibiase. Loses every singles match after that. Plus an ankle injury kept him off T.V. for a while.
Gets back into the mix after ending his feud with Ted Dibiase, with another loss. He joined Team WWE for their match against the Nexus. Gets an elimination but is eliminated by a mere clothesline. Official jobber status for Morrison.
That is until last week. Morrison beat's Y2J in a match to take him out of the Six Pack Challenge at Night of Champions.
He's back, hopefully.
Back to the subject now that your up to speed. With Y2J's time with WWE seemingly coming to a end, can Morrison be the man to finally put the nail in Y2J's coffin? Don't forget the RAW Roulette tonight. The Miz on the other hand has the MITB so even if he lost the U.S. Title, later that night he could cash in on whoever wins.
I've got some possible scenario's for Night of Champions.
Scenario One.
John Morrison and Y2J is announced for the ppv. Winner gets the open spot in the Six Pack Challenge. Another stipulation, if Y2J loses he is fired. They could easily do this tonight with the Roulette. Morrison wins and Y2J is sent packing.
Morrison goes into the ppv rolling. Using his distinct style of wrestling to somehow win the match. Before he can even celebrate, The Miz runs out to cash in the MITB. Having already lost the U.S. Title to Daniel Bryan earlier. The Miz easily defeats Morrison.
They have one of the most hottest feuds of the year. Simple.
Scenario Two.
The Miz has defeated Daniel Bryan. Get's cocky and cost's John Morrison the Six Pack Challenge. Miz attempts to cash in the MITB on the winner. But during the match is cost the title by Morrison.
What a perfect set up to this feud. It can be like Shawn Michaels & Triple H's back in 2004.
Scenario Three.
John Morrison defeats Chris Jericho at the ppv being the stipulation that Y2J is fired. The Miz wins the WWE Title later that night. The Miz continues on one of the best reign's in the titles history besting everyone.
Morrison is still expanding down in the main event card until he wins the Royal Rumble. He challenges the Miz for the title at Wrestlemania. Win's the title establishing himself as a legitimate superstar.
Being known as the guy that ended Y2J's tenure in the WWE could really help Jomo get over and expand his mic skill.
The Miz is going to be WWE Champion sooner or later anyway. This could help both of these guy's in a major way.
What do you guy's think?
