Matt Kuchar Makes His Bid For PGA Player Of The Year at Cog Hill

Matt Kuchar is currently in second place at the BMW Championship and has hopes of winning his third PGA Tour event this season.

With a win by Kuchar he would be the indisputable Player of the Year in the PGA, unless someone with two wins can grab the Players Championship in two weeks.

Also a top five finish the Players Championship will probably give Kuchar the Fed Ex Cup as well and an extra $10,000,000 dollars.

That brings to a close one fantastic year as Kuchar is the statistical leader on an average in green hit in regulation,putting, fairways hit, sand saves, etc etc etc.

He is also on my fantasy team this week, along with Ernie Els and Dustin Johnson as I seemed to put together a powerful team this week gaining a percentage point before the final day.

In Yahoo Fantasy Golf I trail three out of the four experts with a full season ranking of 27,276, 5044 points, and in the 83rd percentile.

Time is running out this season, and a four week losing streak killed me last month as the points were few.

Matt Kuchar is just one shot back, and with that feeling of winning still fresh in his mind from recent play, is the favorite today in my opinion.

Charlie Wi and Dustin Johnson will have something to say about that, they being tied with Kuchar at minus seven.

The Ryder Cup contingent of Paul Casey and Ian Poulter are both at six under par and should be noted as being a threat today to beat the Americans tuning up for Ryder Cup play.

Tiger Woods as you probably know, needs a top five finish to make it to the Players Championship in two weeks to finish the season.

This would be the first year Tiger Woods was not eligible for the Players Championship in his entire career.

Woods is at even par for the tournament, eight shots back and needs a huge day to move on to the Players Championship.
