College Football Picks Odds: Hawaii +3 vs. Army -3
By making a statement against the mighty Trojans at home, Hawaii hoped to have the chance to display their prowess on the national stage, in turn, increasing their chance for an at-large big to a major postseason bowl game.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, a USC offense led by quarterback Matt Barkley would prove to be too much for Hawaii to conquer. Barkley threw five touchdowns and no interceptions in a flawless performance under center.
The rest of the Trojans, however, were sloppy and undisciplined throughout the game, allowing Hawaii to claw their way back towards the end of the second quarter.
USC was penalized 11 times for a total of 100 yards but Hawaii’s comeback attempt would fall short, as the Warriors succumbed 49-36.
Although Hawaii is undoubtedly disappointed with the final score, they proved that they can play mistake-free football, making them a great addition to your Week 2 college football picks.
The Warriors had 31 first downs and amassed 588 total yards against a stout Trojan defense. In addition, Hawaii had zero turnovers against a notoriously opportunistic and disciplined Trojan side.
The Army Black Knights, on the other hand, started their 2010 college football picks season with a victory against Eastern Michigan. Army had been highly anticipating the arrival of transfer full back Jared Hassin from the Air Force Academy.
Hassin didn’t disappoint. The fullback punched in three scores inside Eastern Michigan’s ten-yard line, while averaging 5.7 yards on twelve carries.
Marshall Mention: Army is 2-6 ATS in last 8 home games.
Hawaii will have a difficult time slowing down Hassin, but the fact that Army completely lacks a passing attack will hinder the Black Knights chances of keeping pace with the Warriors.
If Hawaii’s offense plays like they did against USC, they shouldn’t have any trouble covering the spread and make a great play in your college football picks this week.
