The Bulls are off and running this year, and new head coach Skip Holtz has to think that he can make a real statement in the first ever meeting between these in-state rivals.
We know that BJ Daniels isn’t going to be intimidated by the big atmosphere, as he already has gone into Doak Campbell Stadium and knocked off the Seminoles, and in his first career start, nonetheless. He had a great debut in a 59-14 win over Stony Brook, throwing for 264 yards and two TDs without making a big blunder.
The Bulls racked up 563 yards of offense, one of the best days in the history of the program.
On the other side of the ball though, the Gators have a lot of work to do. They had seven snaps that were officially fumbled and several others that were awry ending up with terrible plays. In total, UF only mustered 14 yards of offense in the first half and coughed up three turnovers.
John Brantley needs to figure it out this week, or the blue and orange are going to be in a heck of a lot of trouble. He did throw for 113 yards and two TDs in a 34-12 win against the Miami Redhawks. However, this wasn’t a good effort whatsoever for Florida, as this game was tight going into the fourth quarter and only looked to be a lopsided final due to a last ditch effort touchdown pass on fourth and long late in the game.
Still, the Gators haven’t been beaten at home since September 2008 when the Ole Miss Rebels shocked them as 22-point underdogs.
NCAA Football Insider Tip: South Florida has played seven of its L/10 games ‘over’ the ‘total’.
This could be a higher scoring game this week. The Gators are going to put forth a better offensive effort, and we already know that the Bulls can do some damage. This might be closer than the experts and line suggests, but the safer play is banking on a lot of points.
Look for an easy ‘over’ in the Swamp come Saturday college football betting online.
