2. San Diego Chargers -4.5 @ Kansas City Chiefs
To finish the opening weekend of the season, the San Diego Chargers travel to Kansas City on Monday night as the second part of a double header. Slow starters for the past two seasons, the Chargers have been giving a favourable opening fixture against one of the weaker sides in the NFL to get them off to a winning start. The playoffs were a disappointment once again for the AFC West Champions, but a fixture against a divisional game should put that behind them as they start their season with a victory.

3. Oakland Raiders @ Tennessee Titans -6
The Tennessee Titans woeful start to last season prevented them from making last seasons playoffs. But the duo of Vince Young and Chris Johnson gave the Titans many offensive weapons that defences couldn’t handle. They have the potential to be a dangerous offence this season and are considered a dark horse by many to go far this season. Defensively they look weak on paper, but Jeff Fisher’s defences always play hard. The Oakland Raiders don’t look like causing too many teams problems and I don’t expect them to cause Tennessee a problem in week 1.

4. Baltimore Ravens @ New York Jets -2.5
Both of these franchises have something to prove this season. The Baltimore Ravens have been tipped as an outsider by many with the arsenal added to their offence. Some people claim the New York Jets were a one-season wonder in 2010 and need to prove themselves again. Going into the first Monday night game of the season, I view the New York Jets as the more complete of the two, with a better defence that will likely limit the Ravens to few points. Baltimore’s offence may need time to gel and they’re playing against the wrong defence to do that in week 1.

5. Arizona Cardinals -4 @ St Louis Rams
The losses of Kurt Warner and Anquan Boldin are going to hurt the Arizona Cardinals this season, but they still have enough on their roster to defeat the woeful looking St Louis Rams. Looking like strong contenders for the number 1 draft pick once again, we can expect the St Louis Rams to start the season with defeat against their division rivals.
