Inter Milan President Moratti Denies Interest in Former Rossoneri Kaká

Tim FontenaultSep 8, 2010

For a second, Milan fans had to take a breath.

On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport reported that five-time, reigning Italian champions Inter Milan were interested in Real Madrid midfielder Kaká.

Reports have linked Kaká with a move away from the Bernabeu for some time now. After joining AC Milan in 2003, the Brazilian international left for Madrid in a move worth over $100 million (U.S.).

His first season at his new club was difficult for the former World Player of the Year. After scoring 16 goals in his final Milan season, his lowest total since 2004-2005, the Brazilian managed only 9 in 33 total matches for Madrid, 8 in 25 league matches.

After injuries gave him trouble last season, he is already struggling again this season, as he is out of action until about November with a leg injury. With the new additions Madrid have made this summer, including Mesut Özil and Sergio Canales, it is likely that Kaká will be allowed to leave for the right price.

Rumors earlier this summer had him linked with Chelsea and Carlo Ancelotti, his manager at AC Milan. Manchester City have always been interested in the player, who snubbed them in January of 2009 before joining Madrid in June.

This most recent report is the first time Inter Milan have been rumored to be interested in their former rival; however, the Nerazurri were quick to deny the reports.

"It could be a good idea but it did not come from us," Inter president Massimo Moratti clarified to the media.

"I also read it in the paper. I have never spoken to Mourinho."

Most likely, the only way Kaká would return to Italy is with AC Milan. Before leaving, Kaká had stated his intentions of one day being the club captain. At the time of his departure, he said he was only leaving to help Milan towards fixing their financial issues.

Kaká would surely love to return to the club which made him an international star.

Milan fans would surely love to have him back.

However, reports now have Milan interested in former Inter Milan striker and lifelong Milan supporter, Mario Balotelli.
