Whose Heisman

Pardon My Bias Bleacher ReportSep 7, 2010

Yahoo Sports has reported that the Heisman Trophy Trust will strip Reggie Bush of his award, which he won in 2005. The NCAA had found many violations with USC and stated that Bush was ineligible for the 2005 season, the one in which he was awarded the Heisman Trophy and was named the best player in NCAA football. It came down to everyone wondering how the Heisman Trust would react to this situation and it seems as if they may take away the honor that Bush received 5 years ago. People have taken different sides to this but I believe that this is the wrong decision.

The honor of being allowed into the Heisman Fraternity is for the one player who can surpass all and prove that he is the best that college football has to offer. Reggie Bush did this. He rushed for 1,740 yards and 16 touchdowns while also picking up 478 yards and 2 touchdowns receiving. He was the clear choice for this award and even after all that has happened, he still deserves it. What use is it going to do the Heisman Trust to just vacant that year? Absolutely nothing. It definitely should not be given to Vince Young. Although he had an excellent year, winning the National Championship, he was not the best player of the year and who knows how things would of turned out if Bush was not their at USC. Everything would of changed, maybe Matt Leinart would of played out of his mind and made a Heisman repeat. There is no way to say what would of happened, therefore it would just make sense to leave the trophy in Bush’s possession. He was the best player that year and to me, always will be a Heisman winner.

This is just an opinion, so please…Pardon My Bias.
