Point Spread: Head Coach Rex Ryan’s Jets currently sit as 2.5-point favorites with the game ‘total’ set at 35.5 for tonight’s intense match-up.

Baltimore comes into the season with the most talent they’ve had since their Super Bowl year. QB Joe Flacco will run the offense and the 18th ranked passing attack in the league from a year ago. Fortunately for him, he has newly acquired WR’s Anquan Boldin, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Derrick Mason to throw to. RB’s Ray Rice, Willis McGahee and FB Leron McClain will pace the reigning 5th ranked rushing attack again in 2010. While another year older, the seventh ranked defense has everyone back for another dominating run.

The Jets enter their 2010-11 campaign after losing to the Colts in the AFC Championship game and finishing the year 11-8 SU while splitting their games ATS (9-9). Their offense ranked 31st in passing offense while scoring just 21.4 PPG a year ago, so they hope QB Mark Sanchez will improve in his second go round as the teams field general. RB’s Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson will pace last year top ranked rushing attack with Tomlinson taking most of the goal line snaps. CB Darrell Revis will start for the Jets on defense after finally reaching an agreement and ending his holdout.

There are some interesting trends for this match-up: In the L/3 years when dogged as three points or less on the road, the Ravens are 5-3 SU & a $$$-making 6-1 ATS. On the road during that span they’re 11-10 SU & have won 12 of 20 ATS. In games played in the month of September they’re 5-1 SU & have cashed in their L/6 ATS. In their L/16 home games, the Jets are 9-7 SU & 7-9 ATS. They’ve also gotten off to solid starts for NFL bettors going 5-2 SU & ATS in September the L/2 years.
