Revis Island Back on the Map
Breaking news came out last night when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Darrelle Revis and the New York Jets finally reached a contract agreement that would end Revis’s storied hold out. Every wide receiver that plays the Jets this season cringed when they heard this news because they know they will be once again left to play survivor on Revis Island (a game that Revis almost always wins). Signing Revis to the deal finally brings back one of the top corners in the NFL to the already strong Jets defensive team. Many critics have said that if the Jets plan to be a Super Bowl team, they need Revis back. Personally, this makes them a Super Bowl defense, but the offense still has to make huge strides to keep up. Revis’s holdout has been the story of the preseason (along with Albert Haynesworth) and this should make for a great finale to HBO’s Hard Knocks this Wednesday.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This deal was bound to get done; it was just a matter of time. Timing came perfect for the Jets who start the season next Monday night, and they expect Revis to be on the field for it. Bringing Revis back is a big deal for the Jets who truly do need him. In the first three weeks against the Ravens, Patriots, and Dolphins, you can expect Anquan Boldin, Randy Moss, and Brandon Marshall to all pay a visit to Revis Island. I can assure you their stay will not be very pleasant. The numbers speak for themselves from last year:
- Week 1 – Houston Texans, Andre Johnson – 4 rec, 35 yards
- Week 2 – New England Patriots, Randy Moss – 4 rec, 24 yards
- Week 4 – New Orleans Saints, Marques Colston – 2 rec, 33 yards
- Week 6 – Buffalo Bills, Terrell Owens – 3 rec, 13 yards
- Week 11 – New England Patriots, Randy Moss – 5 rec, 34 yards
- Week 12 – Carolina Panthers, Steve Smith – 1 rec, 5 yards (also had 2 INTs this game)
- Week 13 – Buffalo Bills, Terrell Owens – 3 rec, 31 yards
- Week 16 – Indianapolis Colts, Reggie Wayne – 3 rec, 33 yards
Darrelle Revis is the best corner in the league and can stop any receiver you throw at him. The Jets will definitely need him to make a run this year. He has missed all of training camp, and only has one week to practice so it will be interesting to see if he can get himself into proper game shape. He is a talented player, and the bulk of his work is shutting down the number one receiver, which is not a skill set you just lose over night. The only concern is the conditioning. I’m sure he has kept in shape, but he will need to get back into game speed.
Whether the Jets make it to the Super Bowl or not is still yet to be seen, but every top wide receiver will have to pay a visit to the dreadful Revis Island which not too many receivers make it out of.
This is just an opinion, so please…Pardon My Bias.
