The day has come New York Giants fans!! On Sunday, September 12th the 2010 NFL betting world will witness the opening of the New Meadowlands Stadium as the first NFL regular season game is played. The Giants will play host to Matt Moore and the Carolina Panthers. Kick-off is set for 1:00 ET. The Giants will look to avenge last year’s 41-9 spanking that knocked them out of playoff contention.

Carolina finished .500 last season at 8-8 and they look to improve on that. They drafted QB Jimmy Clausen from Notre Dame as insurance to Matt Moore and hope one day he can take the reins as their starter. Standout WR Steve Smith is the main target in the passing attack. Unfortunately for them they have a big vacancy to fill having lost DE Julius Peppers to the Bears during Free Agency.

The Giants just missed out on the playoffs last year and are counting on QB Eli Manning to lead them back into contention this year. Unfortunately for the Giants, they will be without WR’s Sinorice Moss and Domenik Hixon this season since they were most recently placed on IR. They snatched DE Jason Pierre-Paul from USF with the 15th pick in the draft to fill a gap on the defense. Much is expected from the Giants stop unit in the 2010-11 season.

Some trends to look at for this match-up are: In the L/3 years when they dogged, Carolina is 6-10 SU and only finished up 8-8 ATS. In road games during that same time period they were an awful 6-10 SU and managed only an 8-8 ATS. When favored the L/3 years, the New York football Giants have been a $$$-maker winning an impressive 16 of their L/24 games SU while going a decent 14-10 ATS during that time frame.
