WWE Smackdown 9/3/10 Review: Bad Blood For Brothers of Destruction

Graham GSM MatthewsSep 5, 2010

*Christian and Alberto Del Rio Segment

-I am very pleased to see that Alberto Del Rio is getting a push right from the get-go, as he is better than decent in the ring and on the mic. Rio annoys me, but in a good way.

I liked this promo to further the feud with Rey Mysterio, but why was Christian involved? Unless Chrisitan and Del Rio will feud while Rey is gone, then Christian was just pointless. However, good promo to start the show overall.

1. Christian def. Drew McIntyre

-Not a bad match, but that’s the thing: None of the matches between these two are bad. They just get boring. If I’m not mistaken, this is the fourth match they had in the last two months, and it’s pointless because I don’t think they are feuding.

I could predict Christian winning from a mile away, with the stupid “getting injured than winning gimmick”, and that’s what happened throughout all they’re matches. This is a miss in the case is that if they continue to de-push Drew and put Christian in random matches, they won’t have anything to push them towards a title.

2. Michelle McCool def. Kelly Kelly

-Boring. This is the hundredth time I’ve seen these two fight, so if it’s not anything different, then why do it? Lay-cool needed a win to push towards Night of Champions, but still.

Wasn’t Kelly supposed to  be moved to Smackdown to be pushed? I’d like to see Rosa get back in the ring without this working out crap. Hopefully, more divas arrive SOON and Tiffany returns to make it, well exactly what it was before: bad.

3. Dolph Ziggler def. Chris Masters

-Nothing any fan didn’t see coming. Chris Masters has only won two matches on Smackdown, so why should I expect him to win? At least the Kofi and Chavo match was good on Superstars.

This was just used to push Ziggler. By the way, I know Vickie is used for heat, but let him get rid of her to win his own matches because with her, he isn’t getting any better.

4. Big Show def. CM Punk and Luke Gallows (Handicap)

-The thing that bothered me during this match was that SES COULDN”T win. I mean if they couldn’t win at SummerSlam with the addition of Mercury AND Serena, then why would they win without them?

Terrible match to say the least. I am thankful this Straight edge Society is over. This version has been bad for a long time, and the release of Serena made it worse. Hopefully now they end it for good with Punk moving to main event, or they add new members without Mercury and Gallows.

What is the point of having Mercury in the group now? He’s injured for the next six months, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they just released him.

*V.I.P. Lounge with Jack Swagger and MVP

-Another terrible addition in the revival of the lack-luster feud between Jack Swagger and MVP. First off, these two are basically jobbers now so it’s not helping anyone.

It was predictable MVP would come out, break the trophies like Big Show did three months ago, and throw Swagger out of the ring. Was the attack on Swagger’s father really necessary? That was a heel attack, cause he did nothing to MVP. It was cool, but really?

5. Cody Rhodes def. Matt Hardy

-Nothing new, and pretty boring. The only thing that was accomplished in this match was to push Rhodes, but why? Ziggler is IC Champ, so it would be logical to push Hardy to a title shot. Hardy never wins, and it was predictable Rhodes would win again.

Waste of time, and the finish was bad too. WWE is making a HORRIBLE mistake by jobbing Hardy, since I wouldn’t be surprised if Matt quit and went to TNA.

*Undetaker and Kane promo

-Again I say: I am loving this feud. Now I’m not as mad they are doing this feud again, cause it is really giving Kane some spotlight. Of course it won’t last, but it’s been fun while it lasted.

This promo was a little boring though, an odd, with the coffin and disappearing. Kinda pointless and used to kill time, but at least they finally announced they would be facing each other at Night of Champions rater than announce it at the last minute.

Final Review: Miss show. Not as bad as it was boring. I’ve said this time and time again and will continue to say it: watching Smackdown is just feeling like the hours are dragged on, and it’s like a chore.

I still don’t understand why Smackdown is becoming so stale as it moves to Syfy, cause I can’t imagine the ratings it will get there. Hopefully there is another mini-draft to freshen up the roster.
