US Open Day 7 Tennis Betting Tips
Feliciano Lopez v Sergiy Stakhovsky
Sergiy Stakhovsky is in the form of his life right now, and a 7 match winning streak. The Ukrainian has benefited from his big service game in beating the likes of Marcos Baghdatis, Thiemo de Bakker and Denis Istomin during this run. One thing working against him has been 9 sets in two matches which will start to catch up on him. It has shown he’s a fighter but he cannot afford to fall behind to Feliciano Lopez on Sunday. The Spaniard himself has a top service game, and has certainly relied on that so far, defeating French qualifier, Benoit Paire in five sets. He’s not playing his best tennis and therefore I am with the underdog in this match.
Mikhail Youzhny v John Isner
Another candidate to cause an upset on Sunday is John Isner. The big serving American will be able to frustrate Mikhail Youzhny by giving the Russian few opportunities on serve. We all know Youzhny is capable of beating himself, and I can see that happening in this match. Isner is playing well in his home country on the hard courts and could be on for another victory here.
Kim Clijsters v Ana Ivanovic
Two players heading into the fourth round on form and with 4 bagels between them so far. One has to fall on Sunday. With a comfortable route into round 4, Kim Clijsters remains the favourite to defend her title. There’s no denying Ana Ivanovic has found her form again in the past couple of weeks. Playing with confidence again, she has hit several winners in her three straight victories to this point. A highly-anticipated match in the women’s draw, I expect Kim Clijsters to come through victorious as she keeps her cool out there and makes more winning shots.
Elena Dementieva v Sam Stosur
Both of these players have had tough summers following their losses in the French Open. Elena Dementieva was a losing semi finalist to Francesca Schiavone when she retired injured after losing the first set, but is playing well on hard court in New York having missed Wimbledon. Sam Stosur has been error prone and struggled to find form prior to this week following her loss to Schiavone in the final of Roland Garros. Since dropping her opening set to Elena Vesnina, Stosur has won the last six sets she has played. Both players are capable of choking and playing error-ridden matches. But they’re both former Grand Slam finalists and capable of making great winners. Sam Stosur is serving well again here and that should win her a few cheap points, while Stosur will also enjoy attacking Dementieva’s second serve. On that basis, I am going with the underdog in this match.
