"HE'S NOT THAT TYPE OF PLAYER" Is Tackling Out Of Control In The EPL?

CYRUS 99 STARKSep 15, 2010

With wild & mindless tackles & violent play seemingly alive and well, the British sports media have made it one of the main topics in the last few days.

Earlier this month Arsene Wenger, Arsenal's longest serving manager, made some comments that seemed to put many Stoke fans as well as their infamous coach (Tony Pulis) collective noses out of joint;  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/7969803/Stoke-complain-about-Arsene-Wengers-rugby-jibe.html.

Since then, we have witnessed two serious injuries to high profile players in Bobby Zamora (Fulham) and Antonio Valencia (Man U), while the the latter seemed a complete accident, the former appeared to be the result of a reckless tackle from behind, as always, the opposing supporters, Fulham & Wolverhampton, had completely different views.

ESPN and Skysports news both had  extended discussions and debates mostly centered on Arsene Wenger's comments on the matter; http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6378560,00.htmlhttp://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=823582&sec=england&cc=5739

While the Guardian, one of  Britain's most respected newspapers, published an article of their own (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/sep/15/arsene-wenger-arsenal-abou-diaby),

I strongly recommend that you take a look at the survey & the comments that follow it, as the different views & debates are extremely interesting as they come from individuals who have been watching & even playing football for many years.

I know this particular subject has been brewing for quite some time, especially if you happen to be an Arsenal supporter, I think it's about time that we seized the opportunity to all have our say on the subject, irrespective of where we are from or our club allegiances, it's just too good an opportunity to pass up in my personal opinion.

With all those interesting articles & debates, I thought it would be very interesting if we held a survey & debate of our own right here on B/R.

So here we go; Please feel free to vote for whichever view you agree with the most and if you are so inclined, please share you opinions below in the comments section.

Enjoy!
