Page Update: Chiefs Trade him to the Patriots for a Conditional Draft Pick

Johan TrotskySep 3, 2010

Well it's finally happened, the much-maligned Defensive Back for the Kansas City Chiefs has finally signed his tender.  According to Jason La Canfora In a relatively quiet offseason, the only hiccup came from Page and his continued "war" with the Chiefs and their personnel.  For those who do not know his history here's a quick recap.

Picked in 2006 in Round 7 out of UCLA not much was expected out of Page, but he beat the odds and became a starter.

Starting alongside Pollard, it was rather a good tandem and Page proved to be a rather good Safety.  Given the Nickname the "Raider Killer" for his four interceptions dating back to 2006, with three of those in the EndZone his future looked bright.

Then the 2-14 season came, a new regime soon followed and he found himself as a cast-off of an old regime.  Pollard was cut and Page was placed on IR.

Now this year he was given a tender to prove he deserved to be on the team.  As a little insurance we picked up Kendrick Lewis in the draft to provide competition and Depth.

Mandatory camps came and went, and he reportedly wanted a trade in June. Then Training Camp started and still he was a no show and hadn't signed his tender.

Then his agent went on a radio program claiming the Chiefs were "vindictive" and were trying to play Page when he was injured, and because he didn't they placed him on IR he goes on to say he no longer wants to be a Chief, has moved out of Kansas City, and will not sign his tender and wishes to be traded.

Well Camp came and went and just before final roster cuts, he finally signs his tender.

A smart move on his part if I say so myself because he didn't accrue the daily $17,000 in fines because he hadn't signed it.

Now with 24 hours left and with 76 players on the roster what will we do?  Has/Is a trade already in the works?  Will we just cut him like Pollard?  Who knows all I know is that good riddance, I used to like Page but now he disgusts me.  He could've been apart of something great with Berry, so lets just unload this problem while we still can.

Although Page tried to put us in a bind, but we got out of it(at least for now). We requested a two-game exemption to figure out what exactly we want to do with him.  Field different offers, and take the best one.  Although at this point we probably won't get much for him.

Update: I leave for an hour and see what happens.  Its being reported that Page was traded today for a conditional draft pick.  Patriot connection comes through again and although depending on the playing time Page gets, we don't know what pick it will be its good to get rid of bad apples while you can.
