Houston Texans: Owen Daniels Activated From PUP List
Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels passed a physical and was removed from the active/Physically Unable to Perform list on Monday.
Daniels caught 40 passes for 519 yards and five touchdowns and was among the top tight ends in the league when he tore his ACL on November 1, against Buffalo. He practiced Monday for the first time in 10 months.
“I felt good,” said Daniels. “I was gassed, that’s for sure. It’s a lot different than just running sprints and catching passes and sprinting up the field. We work on that play clock, that’s good, in terms of simulating what it’s going to be like in the game. My knee felt really good, but my lungs were hurting.”

Head coach Gary Kubiak said he would like to see Daniels play limited time in the season opener against the Colts, but said he will not risk rushing him back for the preseason finale against the Buccaneers.
“He took about 15 plays in practice, got to push ground a little bit, looked good,” said Kubiak. “That’s a first step, probably take a few more each day, but you won’t see him on Thursday night. But he looks good… We know what type of player he is. We don’t risk that. We get him healthy and get him ready to go. We’ve got a long way to go.”
Though he would like to see some preseason action before stepping on the field in the regular season, Daniels will have to wait.
“I would like to at least come as close as I can to live action if I can’t get it,” said Daniels. “If (Kubiak) doesn’t want to put me in there, I’ll just go with it and bang around a little bit next week or here after the game and get ready… Hopefully I can play as much as they’ll let me and hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow than I did today.”
