NFL Football Betting—Best Performances Of The Preseason So Far

NFL football betting players are waiting for Thursday to end the preseason, but we’re not waiting any longer.  Here are five players that have romped through the preseason, and although they’re not necessarily the best players, they are worth keeping an eye on.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay

Rodgers has been the MVP of the preseason, tearing apart every team he has faced, and no more so than in a 59-24 romp over Indianapolis, when he went 21-of-29 for 195 yards and three touchdowns with no picks.  Rodgers will give you big numbers this year—if the Packers’ offensive line can continue to keep him on his feet.

Pat Angerer, Indianapolis

The second-round pick is lobbying for playing time on a defense that has seen its share of trouble in the preseason (see above).  Angerer had 10 tackles in that loss in Green Bay, but it’s more impressive that he was playing with the first team in the spot left vacant by starting middle linebacker Gary Brackett, who was hurt in the game. 

C.J. Spiller, Buffalo

NCAA football betting players know all about what Spiller can do, as they watched him explode in the open field at Clemson.  Spiller has gotten more time than the Bills wanted to give him, but injuries to Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch made it impossible to ease the rookie running back into it.  That’s fine.  Against Indianapolis, he broke a few tackles in a dazzling 31-yard touchdown run, and then added a couple of more scores in a win over Cincinnati.  Too bad he’s the only offensive weapon the Bills have.

Jermichael Finley, Green Bay

Rodgers gained confidence in Finley over the second half of last year, and that has carried over to the preseason when Rodgers has looked for the young tight end.  They hooked up for six catches, 85 yards, and a score against Indianapolis. Think Antonio Gates, but younger and faster than Gates ever was.  He could be a sleeper pick in your fantasy draft. 

Jordan Shipley, Cincinnati

Another rookie who has had a great preseason, Shipley has been steady and consistent in every game, drawing comparisons to New England’s Wes Welker.  Shipley could end up being one of the best slot receivers in the game, but he can also go outside as well.  At Texas, Shipley was used all over the place, and he was the favorite target of Colt McCoy, who is now in Cleveland, so he’s used to getting a lot of work.  Honestly, Shipley could end up being an excellent betting darkhorse in the Offensive Rookie of the Year race.
