Arsenal Transfer Prospect: Could Andy Carroll Be Just What Wenger Needs?
Arsenal completed their second win of the 2010/2011 season by admirably defeating Blackburn 2-1 at Ewood park. In what was an impressive defensive effort from the Gunners, the victory was marred by an injury sustained by talismanic striker Robin van Persie.
The lethal Dutch striker limped off on the half-hour mark after taking a heavy knock to his ankle, in a collision with youngster Phil Jones. Witnessing the star striker trudge off due to injury is a sight Arsenal fans are all to used too as it has occurred all throughout the 27-year-old’s career.
Last season, after hitting scintillating form, van Persie sustained a serious ankle injury was absent for four months. Having only just returned to full fitness, the injury comes as an immense blow as the severity of the knock looks to have worsened.

The Gunners have already lost Nicklas Bendtner to a groin injury. The Danish sharpshooter is expected to return in the coming weeks, however. Nonetheless, new boy Marouane Chamakh, who arrived from Bordeaux in the summer, has been more than impressive at the front of the Arsenal attack.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be keen on the youngster and would consider attempting to lure the Englishman to the Emirates. This would be a beneficial signing as it would add extra depth into the frontline as well as greater strength and height.
With van Persie in such shaky place it is necessary to have cover, and at 21 Wenger would would surely ensure a sufficient growth into Carroll’s game. So could Andy Carroll be an ideal January signing for Wenger and Arsenal?
