Top Five Stories From Yesterday

1. Stephen Strasburg was diagnosed with a torn elbow ligament that will likely require Tommy John surgery and force him to miss the 2011 season.

2.Tiger Woods starts strong on the front nine, but struggles on the back nine to finish with a two-over 73, falling into a tie for 14th at The Barclays.

3. The Red Sox get a little closer in the AL East race as they win in Tampa Bay and the Yankees lose to the White Sox.

4. The Braves lose their fourth in a row, falling 7-1 to the Marlins and the Phillies finally take advantage, beating the Padres 3-2 in 12 innings.

5. According to a source, U.S. Soccer may be considering Jurgen Klinsmann for the U.S. National Soccer Team head coach.


Top Five Games From Yesterday

1. MLB: Phillies 3, Padres 2, 12 innings: Brad Lidge balks in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, but Philadelphia gets an RBI single from Placido Polanco in the 12th to gain a game in the NL East.

2. MLB: Red Sox 3, Rays 1: Boston gets two home runs from Victor Martinez to creep a little closer in the AL East.

3. MLB: Orioles 3, Angels 1:  Baltimore continues to play well under Buck Showalter as they are now 14-10 under their new skipper.

4. MLB: Blue Jays 3, Tigers 2: Toronto gets a walk-off single from Aaron Hill to get themselves a game closer in the AL East.

5. MLB: Mets 2, Astros 1: New York manages only three hits and it is just enough, as Houston scored their run and had the tying run on second in the ninth.
